The investigation of medical institutions is expanded: another 16 people have made complaints

According to the STT, a total of 51 people are currently under suspicion, including 29 representatives of private companies and 22 employees of medical institutions, nine of whom are heads of medical institutions.

A total of twelve private company transactions related to the sale of various medical equipment and other devices to fourteen Lithuanian medical institutions are investigated.

It is believed that the transactions may have been concluded after non-transparent public procurement.

STT agents are investigating more than 100 crimes throughout Lithuania.

“Currently, the collected data suggests that representatives of companies trading in medical devices and equipment, possibly operating by various illegal means, may have created conditions for companies to illegally win purchases from various Lithuanian medical institutions for more than 3 million. “states the STT report.

The STT and the Attorney General’s Office last week announced an ongoing large-scale investigation into corruption in public procurement in the health sector.

At that time, complaints were filed for various crimes of corruption against 35 people, four of whom are heads of private companies and six are heads of medical institutions.

Suspects include Narimantas Markevičius, director of the Vilnius City Clinical Hospital, Daiva Kanopienė, director of the Šeškinė polyclinic, Olegas Kačanas, chief physician of the Vilnius district Nemenčinė polyclinic, Stasys Skauminas, director of the Kėdainiai hospital, director of the center municipal service of the Plungė and Antanas Martuseviius district.

The allegations were also presented to the director of the company Limeta Virginijus Domarkas, the director of Limeta NT, the shareholder of both companies Kęstutis Kutkauskas and the director of Graina Erland Sudeikis.

Last week 150 searches were carried out, 270 thousand were found. cash in various currencies. Law enforcement agencies also claimed to have recorded times of possible bribery transfers.

According to the Public Procurement Office (VPN), Limeta and Graina have earned more than 1.7 thousand in the last two years. public procurement, the amount of which exceeds 58 million. euros.

Limeta had almost fifty contracts worth more than 1.5 million euros with the six medical institutions previously announced in the study, while Graina had 35 contracts worth more than 2 million euros. euros.

According to the STT, more than a hundred crimes are being investigated.

Criminal offenses such as abuse, bribery, influence peddling, bribery, as well as fraudulent accounting and document falsification are investigated.

According to law enforcement, the hiring of the authorities “restricted competition, discriminated against other suppliers” and harmonized the conditions to benefit certain protected companies.

Most of the suspects are in pretrial detention – written promises not to leave. A suspect, E. Sudeikis, was arrested. The prosecution also requested the arrest of V. Domarkas and K. Kutkauskas, but the court did not comply with these requests.

The investigation of the Central Investigation Board of the STT is controlled, organized and directed by a group of prosecutors from the Organized Crime and Corruption Investigation Directorate of the Attorney General’s Office and the Organized Crime and Corruption Investigation Divisions of the Prosecutor’s Offices District.
