Sodra’s information on the debt did not scare the Kaunas resident. Later it was learned that this was just an error, although representatives of the institution point out that there were no systemic errors this year.
Declared departure
A reader of Kauno diena shared her experience of how her daughter, who was studying in the United States, became a debtor to Sodra. While an adult girl lived in Lithuania, she paid monthly contributions to the Mandatory Medical Insurance (PSD). The global pandemic of COVID-19 adjusted the girl’s studies in a distant country and it was not until January of this year that the student continued her studies.
The husband said that under an agreement between him and his daughter, the father took over the PSD contributions and transferred the fixed contribution to Sodra on behalf of the daughter. After leaving for the United States this year, the girl declared this departure and also took care to avoid any debt.
“We just didn’t understand whether we paid the current month or last month by paying the PSD contribution in the middle of the month, so I asked my daughter to check the Sodra website to see if she was in debt,” said the Kaunas resident.
Back in the United States, the girl verified and published information on PSD’s debt website. In evaluating the time differences, he decided that it would be easier for the father to find out about the debt.
The system has failed
Sodra has already told Kauno Diena that by providing quarantine services remotely, the number of calls from customers has increased significantly. However, the Kaunas resident assured him, unsurprisingly, that he had to wait a bit while calling the short number.
He was much more surprised by what he heard. First you had to answer yes the amount indicated in the notice. When he replied that the amount was not specified, the specialist who answered the phone reassured him: “This is a mistake.”
The man did not hide in confusion. He says that only because of doubts – for the current month or the last month pay PSD called “Sodra” to check. Otherwise you wouldn’t have even called, but you paid the fee right away.
“Based on what information about the debt delivered to the population on the Sodra website, can it be concluded that there is an error here?” – asked the Kaunas resident rhetorically.
In the event of an overpayment of contributions, the resident can decide for himself what to do with the overpayment: offset future liabilities or recover the overpayment.
The specialist explained over the phone that if the message did not specify the amount owed, then an error had occurred. The Kaunas resident was not at all reassured by this, perhaps there is no mistake and an unwanted record will remain that his daughter was in debt to the state before leaving.
Convincing the husband was not easy, as a Sodra spokesperson reminded him over the phone about the protection of personal data and the fact that not even a father can receive data on the affairs of an adult daughter. However, he managed to ask, and after saying his daughter’s personal code, the father heard a reassuring response that the daughter was not in debt.
There were no systemic errors.
Sodra’s representatives, who were asked to explain, stated that they could not comment on the situation of a particular person. It is true that this week on the Sodra website, after entering the personal code, it is no longer possible to check whether you are in debt or not. It is suggested to do this in your personal account.
“There may be cases where employers review last month’s data on an employee, or a person gets a job after information about PSD obligations has been sent to them and the message loses its relevance. However, this is not a mistake, “explained Saulius Jarmalis. , Head of the Communications Department of Sodra.
According to the presenter, there were no systematic errors in sending notifications about the PSD obligations of the population this year.
“However, if a resident receives a wrong message, he will be informed in the same way of the wrong message as soon as the error becomes apparent. If an overpayment occurs, to recover”, – S. Jarmalis mentioned the options.
Constantly reminds me
The head of the communication department stated that Sodra constantly informs the population about the obligations of the PSD. This is done even a few times. For example, if a resident has not paid a PSD contribution in January, they will be notified of the debt in February so that they can cover it as soon as possible and be covered by mandatory health insurance again.
In addition, Sodra also sends notifications to residents if the resident is not yet in debt to the PSD, but, for example, he has not had a paid job since the beginning of February, he is not looking for it, he does not register in Employment. Service and is not insured at the end of the month, will not be employed or will not be insured with state funds; he will have to pay the contributions himself, “continued S. Jarmalis.
He stressed that this was very important, as failure to pay contributions on time would lead to termination of a person’s compulsory health insurance and for illness, injury and, if necessary, medical care.
