The hill ate Greek food and praised: suitable for both Apollo and Aphrodite

In fact, what once seemed impossible is now a reality: although you can’t sit in restaurants, they learned to make takeout and take it home during those years of combat, and they learned as much as they hadn’t learned before in thirty years.

We order at the Greek restaurant, which is located in Halle and with which we are somehow connected (it seems to me) with those who have given us olive oil. But they neither asked for that review, nor did they mention anything: so please don’t imagine corruption where it does not exist and cannot exist.

Greek cuisine, by the way, is one of the healthiest in the world. It is close to the famous Italian “Mediterranean diet”, which is not even a diet, but simply the basic principles: little frying, little potato and in bulk, olive oil for every occasion, lots of vegetables and a life without stress. It is not only what you eat that matters, but also how you eat. Greece has borrowed so much money that they will no longer give up for the rest of their lives (remind me: even if Greece sold all of its islands at market price, that money would not be enough to pay even half of its debts) and so So she’s pretty relaxed. As the saying goes, if you owe the bank a thousand dollars, then you have a problem, and if you owe the bank ten million, then the bank has a problem.

Sure, there are variations on modern Greek cuisine too (we’ll talk about them), not everything is super healthy, but if you’re a fanfare, young, and in a good mood like me, this simple little meal won’t hurt.

First of all, I must point out that all the food came in exemplary packaging; to the surprise of both of them together, not even the fries were sewn together. But no wonder: even French fries can travel when they are not sealed in an airtight plastic muffler and when they have no other food. Greeks (these days at least) love French fries (authentic Greek patates tiganites are fried in olive oil because like everything else: what already, and Greeks have and can lend olive oil to others) .

Not only that, in the modern Greek style, they have been added to pita gyros (they can be said as “gyros”, as “giraffes” and as “gyros” depending on where you come from in the world). The word comes from the same root as “gyroscope” or similar scientific words, that is, to rotate, from the verb “to rotate”; the Greeks also transmitted the word to people who lived nearby, for example, in Italian to rotate is “girare”. This is because the meat (usually chicken or pork) in that twisted Greek bread dish kebab is cut from a large piece that rotates on a spit, much like a doner kebab cut from meat baked on a vertical spit, which can see with us. In Lithuania, and in what kind of Germany there are tens of thousands, and in the long run there will be even more. While Turkey and Greece may not be the most communicative countries in the world, the people live close together, the nature is similar, and the dishes are similar.

We took two of those gyros, with both chicken and pork (as you can clearly see in the photo of the word “pig”), each for 6.30 EUR, and so those kebabs were wrapped in potatoes, help them God, And so all the ingredients were delicious, so juicy and so happy that we could finish the article here if it weren’t for all the other dishes that we still order because we like to order too much.

The shrimp saganaki, with tomato sauce and feta cheese and vegetables, was such a filling, thick and delicious dish that one could have fed us both; I must admit that I almost ate a larger portion of that dish than would have been wise.

The cod was, to our knowledge (and we are not just Americans at heart – when it comes to fish, we are Japanese with me) a little fried, I like when the cod is broken into layers and is firm, and here it was a lot of fried; but I must point out that such a preparation is an authentic Greek preparation, as it is eaten in Greece. Even more so because that fish was fried in a very thin and light dough. The yogurt tzaciki sauce was amazing, and even things like recurring garnishes on different dishes (like beets) weren’t at all bothersome, those beets were so good.

I also really liked the moussaka, even though it contained eggplant. Moussaka is like a semi-baked pastry without dough, there are eggplants on the bottom, as well as minced meat and a sintered white sauce on the top. Variants of this dish are consumed both in the Middle East and in the Balkans.

Other restaurants need to learn how to adjust their Instagram profile in these Greek salons. No junk, no unnecessary puffy lips on the girls, just beautifully photographed dishes (www.instagram.com/greeks). It just lies in the essence.

I will repeat: well prepared, well delivered, carefully packaged, lots of Greek joy. We paid 39.20 euros for all those meals and to be honest they would have fed four people too.

Brave five geese out of five, because what Vilnius needs is a little relaxation and smiles from the Mediterranean, which is too frowning. Have more fun and enjoy the food.
