The municipality of Vilnius has announced that the heating in the capital will be turned on from Thursday. Deputy Mayor Valdas Benkunskas told BNS that it is initially planned to turn it on in educational and medical institutions and, starting Friday, in residents.

“Within five days, radiators should start heating up all over Vilnius,” said V. Benkunskas.

Kauno Energija, which supplies heat to Kaunas, announced that the municipality had announced the heating season starting Thursday.

According to the Klaipėda Municipality, the budgetary preschool and general education institutions began to heat up on Wednesday, and other buildings will heat up from Thursday.

Šiaulių energija, which provides district heating to Šiauliai, reported that the supply of heat to the city’s care and educational institutions should start no later than Wednesday, and all other consumers no later than Friday.

The Panevėžys City Municipality announced the heating season on Wednesday.

Record low heat prices, but not necessarily low bills

The municipality of the capital stresses that heating prices in October, compared to October last year, are falling by a fifth, and “heating prices so low in the heating season have not been in all the decade”.
