Renata Keblienė, a representative of the Special Investigation Service, informed BNS on Thursday that prosecutors petitioned the court for his dismissal, which dismissed S. Skuminas for three months and A. Martusevičius for half a year.

An employee of the Plungė Hospital was also removed from his post during this period.

Early Thursday, Povilas Poderskis, director of the Vilnius city municipal administration, announced that Daiva Kanopienė, the director of the Šeškinė Polyclinic, had been removed from office indefinitely.

Narimantas Markevičius, the director of the Vilnius City Clinical Hospital, was also due to be removed, but according to P. Poderskis, he went on vacation on Wednesday.

The representative of STT BNS also confirmed that the officers carried out a search at the home of D. Kanopienė, director of the Šeškinė Polyclinic, during which documents and objects related to the investigation, including computers and telephones, were seized.

Currently, the investigation raises complaints of various crimes of corruption against 35 people, four of whom are heads of private companies and six are heads of medical institutions.

Among the suspects are N. Markevičius, Director of Vilnius City Clinical Hospital, D. Kanopienė, Director of Šeškinė Polyclinic, Olegas Kačanas, Chief Medical Officer of Vilnius District Nemenčin Polic Polyclinic, S. Skuminas, Director of Kėdainiai Hospital, A.Martusevičius, Director of Irena Janušonienė, Director of the Plungė District Municipal Health Care Center and Radviliškis Primary Health Care Center.

Virginijus Domarkas, director of the medical equipment company Limeta, member of the Kretinga District Council, former parliamentary social democrat, as well as Kęstutis Kutkauskas, director of the company Limeta NT, a shareholder of both companies, were also suspected in this investigation.

Erland Sudeikis, chairman of the board and shareholder of Graina, a company that also deals in medical equipment and is based in Panevėžys, was also suspected.

Most of the suspects were taken into custody with written promises not to leave. One suspect, the director of the private company Graina, E. Sudeikis, was arrested.

The prosecution also requested the arrest of the owners of Limeta, V. Domarkas, and the owner of the company Limeta NT, shareholder of both companies, K. Kutkauskas, but the court did not respond to these requests.

The investigation of the Central Investigation Board of the STT is controlled, organized and directed by a group of prosecutors from the Organized Crime and Corruption Investigation Directorate of the Attorney General’s Office and the Organized Crime and Corruption Investigation Divisions of the Prosecutor’s Offices District.
