N. Ramonaitė said she felt great after the vaccination. After the nurse was vaccinated, the General Director of Clinicas Santara prof. Feliksas Jankevičius did not hide his joy.

“Looking at it, it seems to be a very simple procedure, but it marks the beginning of a very important process, because without a vaccine we are not really going to cope with this pandemic,” said F. Jankevičius.

The professor said that strict quarantine and protection measures are not enough to defeat a pandemic.

“We are glad that today, together with almost all EU countries, we have started such an important process at the same time: vaccination. We hope that it will give the best results and that we will be able to vaccinate not only Lithuanian doctors, but also all the population quickly ”, expressed hope the director of the Santara clinics.

He was seconded by the head of the Center for Infectious Diseases prof. Ligita Jančorienė, who called today “historic day”.

“All that remains now is to receive the second dose of the vaccine, which is scheduled for 21 days. Results from clinical trials show a 7% reduction in morbidity 7 days after the second dose of the vaccine. So we can breathe easier for a few more weeks, ”said L. Jančorienė.

At a press conference later, the vaccinated nurse said that she was very happy that the Covid-19 vaccine had already reached Lithuania.

“It just came to our knowledge then. Eventually we will be able to live normally. Now it is a difficult situation, now we will return to the previous life, we will be able to communicate with families, relatives, friends,” said N. Ramonaitė.

According to her, the vaccination didn’t hurt.

“I found out two days ago when I received an SMS. At first there was so much confusion, but the news was gratifying.” I’m glad I got vaccinated because I really wanted to receive this vaccine, “said the nurse.

However, N. Ramonaitė did not hide that there was anxiety before vaccination, because no one in our country has yet been vaccinated.

“Who is worried? Will someone be able to get vaccinated after that?” Vaccine in England, in America … And in Lithuania we are the first ”, – said the nurse.

On Saturday, Health Minister Arūnas Dulkys announced that he had received a vaccine against Covid-19 infection in Lithuania in the evening.

According to the Chancellor of the Ministry Jurgita Grebenkovienė at the press conference, BioNTech and Pfizer are vaccinated twice: the second dose of the vaccine is administered after three weeks. According to her, all doses of the vaccine received on Saturday will be used for the first medical vaccination.

A second larger shipment of vaccines is expected to be delivered to the country on December 29.
