“Seeing the growing number of infected people, after listening to the arguments of scientists and medical experts, we propose to the Government to publish quarantine throughout the country. This decision is expected to help reduce the spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus) in Lithuania and control the situation, ”says RES Tamašunienė, President of WESTC, Minister of the Interior.

With the approval of the Government, the universal quarantine should enter into force as of November 7, that is, starting this Saturday. It is expected to last at least 3 weeks and impose restrictions related to the closure or restriction of certain establishments.

In addition, the WEU instructed the Police Department, the State Border Guard and other services coordinated by the Ministry of the Interior to ensure greater control of quarantine measures and public security when the quarantine regime enters into force.

“The main task of the heads of the services is to provide the officers with the maximum security measures, which is done consistently, and the officers must ensure the safety of all of us. Since spring, they have been working on an improved preparation mode, ”says R.Tamašunienė, WEU President, Minister of the Interior

The SESC also suggests that the Government arrange for the Chief of Emergency Operations at the state level to appoint a coordinator for personal healthcare facilities to coordinate the activities of these facilities during quarantine. The decision in this regard would be made by the Minister of Health, and the main task of the coordinator of personal health care institutions would be to organize the work quickly and smoothly.
