The government will review restrictions on the quarantine regime with experts on Monday.
According to Prime Minister Rasa Jakilaitienė’s spokeswoman, experts will present the latest data and trends in morbidity and deaths from coronavirus infection during a joint meeting of the Government and the Expert Advisory Council on Monday.
“It will be discussed with health experts if the quarantine conditions can be relaxed, if so, which ones and since when,” he told BNS.
According to Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė, the indicators for the first two weeks of this year will be evaluated.
We are planning a joint meeting of the members of the Government and the members of the Council of Experts on Monday, when we will review this work regime for two weeks this year without holidays and major holidays, but only with normal weekends, where the dynamics can be seen like more or less “, – said the Prime Minister in the Seimas last week.
According to her, according to the initial assessment, movement restrictions between municipalities have had a good effect, population mobility has decreased significantly, and COVID-19 is less contagious.
“It would be very important now not to lose that effect, because there is a circumstance for which we have reason to worry at the same time, seeing the improvement of the statistics. These are those new strains of the virus that, if they came to Lithuania, would spread very quickly and then we would start to rise again from quite a high point, which we would really like to avoid, ”said I. Šimonytė.
According to her, the government will discuss what additional circumstances and conditions are needed to be able to remove some of the restrictions on mobility and, at the same time, avoid crowds at spas.
Due to the rapid spread of the coronavirus, the second quarantine was introduced in Lithuania on November 7. In mid-December, their conditions tightened significantly: many shops, sports and leisure venues were closed, the movement of people between municipalities was restricted, and meetings were held both at home and in public places.
This quarantine regime is in effect until January 31.
