The government program begins with an introduction.
“The global pandemic, climate change, globalization, aging populations, and technological development are changing Lithuania and the world faster than ever. These global changes not only increase insecurity and anxiety about the future, but also they create a sense of community, strengthen people’s trust in each other and in their country, and give hope for a better future, ”it reads.
The government is committed to strengthening people’s trust in the State and its democratic system, guided by the principles of openness, responsibility, equal treatment and respect for all.
“We have identified the top priorities for our country’s progress, which will help make a breakthrough, strengthen our country and its people, and make us more resilient to a variety of potential threats, be they health crises, climate change. or other uncertainties, “the draft said.
The government expresses its commitment to change in the fields of economy, environment, energy, education, health, culture, finance, regional policy, public sector and social security.
“The pandemic has shown that none of us are protected from difficult circumstances and how much each of us can do for others. Therefore, we are committed to creating conditions that help people to successfully realize their skills and experience, to create a environment where everyone feels valued and important.
No one should risk being left out, no older person should be afraid of getting old. We will strive to provide people with power the opportunity to live independently, receive an education and create favorable working conditions. We know that a society is only as strong as its weakest members, ”the government said.
The government also declares its commitment to publish the data collected and compiled by state institutions for open use, to provide comprehensive reports on the activities of the institutions, to actively cooperate with the scientific community and “gradually form a continuous process of constant legislation / discussion” .
“Its axis would be a regularly updated document that would reflect the views of individual ministries on the current situation in the regulated area, data-based assessments, visible problems and solutions, planned legislative actions.
Such an open document would allow the public and its groups to understand what responsible officials think, what actions can be expected and how the current situation is visible.
Such a document would give interested parties the opportunity to participate constructively in the discussions: make proposals, discuss problems, identify or include them, discuss measures and their consequences ”, says the draft of the Government’s program.
The government here promises to work as a single organization, not as separate institutions.
“The joint work of the Government and Parliament based on mutual cooperation is especially important,” the document added.
The Cabinet of Ministers also affirms that it will strive for “not a short-term image, but a good and long-term reputation of the country”, as well as to provide the public with timely, impartial, understandable and reliable information about the Government and its activities.
“The government will report openly and transparently on its activities and decisions. The authorities will provide information in a way that is easy to find and use. The government will provide concise and accurate information in a clear, specific and understandable way. We will strive to create a clear image of the Government’s work and its objectives with the help of the information provided ”, reads the draft of the program.
