Prime Minister Saulius Skvernelis said at the government meeting that so far it is expected that representatives from various ministries will meet with associated structures and seek other solutions to ensure compliance with security requirements without restricting the activities of the institutions.
“If these requirements are met, it is likely that the Minister of Health will provide such decisions to the Government. Otherwise, we will have to seek other alternative ways to prevent the situation in these institutions in a preventive manner,” added the Prime Minister.
According to the draft Government Resolution, the activities of catering establishments, restaurants, cafes, bars, discos and other entertainment venues, casinos and slot machines, bingo halls would be reduced to 24 hours.
As Delpi has said in the past, the government has been considering such restrictions for some time.
As you know, there has been a more active monitoring of the success of restaurants that operate at night, as well as compliance. Violations were recorded and various possible options were discussed.
It was offered until the second hour of the night, until twelve or ten, but how does the government decide, ”Veryga said.
When asked if such a reduction in working hours would not be very damaging to companies, Mr Veryga assured that this would be done without the need to close even more sectors.
Rolanda Lingienė, head of the Vilnius Department of the National Center for Public Health (NVSC), has also spoken about restrictions on working hours for bars.
He said it makes sense to limit the opening hours of discos and other catering establishments because at night people are more relaxed and do not comply with security requirements.
