Although initially the aid was intended to be granted to companies that fulfilled two criteria: the volume of business decreased by 30% and in the sector to which the company belongs, there are around 40% of these companies affected, it was decided to renounce the second requirement.

During the second quarantine, the state will focus on two measures to support companies: subsidies, the amount of which will depend on the Personal Income Tax (PIT) paid by the company last year, and soft loans. It is currently estimated that these two measures will require around 180 million euros. euros.

Large companies may not receive grants

Although the subsidy, the amount of which would depend on last year’s PIT, was originally planned to be paid to all companies, Deputy Minister of Economy and Innovation Jekaterina Rojaka revealed in the Seimas Budget and Finance Committee (BFK) on Wednesday that it is large companies unlikely to call for pandemics.

Large companies are those that have more than 250 employees or more than 50 million. turnover in euros.

This has provoked the outrage of business associations, who say that so far there has been talk not only of subsidies for all companies, but also of halving the figures.

Andrius Romanovskis, president of the Lithuanian Business Confederation, expressed concern that large companies that are being phased out were also expressed at the government meeting.

Rūta Vainienė, director of the Lithuanian Association of Business Companies, also emphasized that the pandemic affected all companies without exception, both large and small.

“The vast majority of companies leave at the discretion of the employees, this measure is not focused on preserving jobs, because those with more employees would be eliminated from the beneficiaries, especially since the compensation of the rent will not continue” said R. Vainienė.

Business associations were also outraged that the proposed subsidy amount was 25%. of last year’s paid GPM, although companies claim to have debated 50 percent. grant amount.

However, the Acting Minister of Economy and Innovation, Rimantas Sinkevičius, stated that the specific amounts will be clarified later.

“The distribution of the measure will not begin until January, it is not included in the budget, it is still under consideration. Now we say who is supported and to what extent we provide it based on currently available financial opportunities, ”said R. Sinkevičius.

Finance Minister Vilius Šapoka added that the business support plan will be coordinated with the European Commission.

Support is expected to reach businesses only in January next year.

The new quarantine will reimburse € 257 to the self-employed and will continue to subsidize wages, paralyzing workers.
