Shops and hairdressers and other personal service providers must cover an area of 20 square meters. If the area is smaller, only one customer can be served at a time.

“Today, our task is to move forward from a certain point of view and see how we will achieve it,” said Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė.

The doors will be open to those stores with a sales area that does not exceed 300 square meters and that have “a direct entrance from the outside or a separate entrance used only by the customers of that store.”

The Minister of Health, Arūnas Dulkys, affirms that quarantine facilities have been adopted to guarantee equal operating conditions for small and medium-sized enterprises and the improvement of the epidemiological situation.

“100,000 new cases. The population in mid-December reached almost 1,500 at a time, now we are at 314, the latest figure. It is burning, but the number of tests that are still positive is really large,” he said. A. Dulkys.

The Minister of Economy and Innovation Aušrinė Armonaitė stated that after these changes, “tens of thousands of people” will be able to return to work from next week.

Rūta Vainienė, director of the Lithuanian Business Enterprise Association, asked to increase the limit of the business area to 500 square meters, but the government rejected this proposal.

“I mean when those 300 sq. M. meters, is what smaller stores where the products themselves take up a lot of space cannot open. Very narrow here, at least 500 square meters. meters we will do. They won’t open, there are very, very few here, ”said R.Vainienė.

R.Vainienė stated that traders also have questions about the wording of the “common commercial area”. A.Dulkys explained that this means that the area of administrative premises and warehouses will be removed from the calculated area.

“Ruth has said now that no one will be able to open now. This is not true. Those that measure up to 300 square meters. Meters of commercial premises, that is, excluding administrative premises, warehouses, premises, will be able to open. It cannot be said that no one will be able to open, “answered A. Armonaitė.

In case of uncertainty, the Government decided to include the definition of commercial space in the text of the decree.

The government has also allowed non-food trade to take place outdoors from temporary commercial facilities.

Movement and assembly restrictions are not modified by government decree.

Hairdressers, beauty salons and most non-food stores in Lithuania have been closed since December 16.
