Taking into account the unfavorable epidemiological situation of the coronavirus (COVID-19) in Lithuania, the Government resolution will introduce stricter quarantine conditions, reducing the number of people authorized to gather and prohibiting the work of temporary traders working in supermarkets. It is also recommended to abandon short-term sales promotion measures to limit traffic to points of sale.
The government has supported the proposal of the Ministry of Health (SAM) to prohibit the operation of temporary points of sale in stores, supermarkets and service points where sales are not made in physically segregated stores but in common supermarkets and aisles. Exceptions apply to trade in food products, fireworks, and stationary trading islands.
As the festive period approaches, many outlets are hosting Christmas fairs, not in physical stores, but in temporary outlets where it would be difficult to ensure a safe distance and proper compliance with other measures to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
The government also supported a proposal to reduce the number of people who gather from five to two in public places, places of commerce and services.
It is also recommended that all stores, supermarkets, markets and other public outlets and service points do not use short-term sales promotions that increase customer and visitor flows.
