Although the coronavirus spread in the Nursing and Solidarity Care Unit of the Radviliškis Hospital, in Palanga the infection was detected in patients of the Orthopedic Traumatology Service of said hospital. These individuals underwent joint replacement surgery.

A. Jonaitis indicated that since Thursday night, due to the two identified cases of COVID-19, Palanga Lino’s activities have been suspended.

“The process has been suspended. There will be no more tomorrow or the day after tomorrow. All people are isolated in the rooms. We bring food to everyone in the rooms. Those infected must be collected by the municipality and taken to Šiauliai county. We will do the investigation again early next week. According to the interlocutor, when two people were diagnosed with COVID-19, some patients left the home of the sanatorium, but the majority stayed.

On Thursday all the people brought from Radviliškis Hospital were examined, on Friday those who had contact with the infected, such as living in the same room, eating nearby, as well as the employees were examined. In total, about 30 samples were taken on Friday.

A. Jonaitis said the infected people had little contact with each other.

“Since Wednesday, when we arrived, an infected person was not in the procedures, he was only going to eat and the other person was in two procedures. I hope not many people get infected, “said the head of the rehabilitation center.

So far, the remaining seven patients brought in from Radviliškis, for whom a positive result for COVID-19 has not been confirmed, have not been sent home. The Rehabilitation Center is waiting for the results of your new exams and further instructions from the Public Health Center.

If the results of those who had contact with the infected are negative, A. Jonaitis promised to ask his relatives to take the patients home for 14 days to quarantine them.

At present, it has been discovered that about 10 patients and slightly more than Palangos linen employees had contact with the infected people from Radviliškis. All employees who have been in contact are already in self-isolation.

Despite the fact that the coronavirus has been approved for patients at the Palanga Rehabilitation Center “Palangos linas”, the National Center for Public Health (NVSC) has not yet had data in this regard.

According to currently available data, it has been approved for 23 patients from the Radviliškis Hospital Nursing and Supportive Treatment Department and 8 employees, two of whom work in the Admission-Emergency Department.

All patients from the Nursing and Solidarity Care Unit were isolated. Likewise, 37 employees who worked in the Nursing and Supportive Treatment and Reception-Emergencies departments were isolated.

NVSC specialists have been working at Radviliškis Hospital since Thursday. All scheduled procedures have been suspended at the hospital and patients who need urgent care are referred to other treatment facilities.
