According to Simonas Krėpšta, Senior Advisor to the President of the Economic and Social Policy Group, the head of the country was impressed by M. Navickienė’s knowledge of the area in which she is being delegated. It was noted that the candidate has gained experience working at the Seimas.

According to the adviser to the head of state, it is gratifying that the candidate shows determination to reduce relative poverty, focus on social services, the level and quality of which is currently unsatisfactory, and plans to improve the reconciliation of work and family life, especially to families with children.

The president highlighted the importance of addressing the issue of pensions, reducing income inequality and reaching the average of the European Union.

“The president has indicated that we need to make changes and progress in this area (of pensions), because the replacement rate (the ratio of the average pension to the average salary) is currently too low, around 43%, and should be consistent and sustainable over the next few years. to reach at least 50 percent, “said S. Krėpšta.

According to the president, Lithuania has achieved impressive results in the field of economic growth since the independence period and during the last decades, but it must be said that we are still far behind the Western European standard in terms of social exclusion and income inequality. . These advances are really much needed in the next four years. This position of head of country was transmitted by his adviser.

“At the meeting, a number of very important issues were discussed in detail. This ministry covers many areas and is one of the main poles on which the welfare state stands,” emphasized S. Krėpšta.

Testimony appeared in public that, for example, up to six advisers had met with health minister candidate Arūnas Dulkis prior to the official meeting with the country’s head. S. Krėpšta assured that meetings of all the candidates are being organized with the body of presidential advisers.

“The president pays great attention to the selection of candidates and discussions with the candidates. They consist of two parts: at the beginning we meet with a wide range of advisers, this is done with all the candidates. We have very in-depth talks on the main topics of each area, on specific ways to approach them, (…) followed by a meeting with the president and an in-depth conversation. We also have many other close processes: we see what results have been achieved, what education, work experience, we are talking with social partners ”, explained S. Krėpšta.
