Yutong is one of the largest bus manufacturers in the world and sells about 15 percent. Buses from all over the world. It has been producing electric buses for 7 years, and started entering the European market last year.
As Simonas Ramanauskas, head of UAB BusNex, which represents the Chinese manufacturer in the Baltic States and Poland, emphasized, this electric bus model is making its European debut in Vilnius. Other models of Yutong electric buses operate in Oslo, Madrid, Stockholm and other cities.
The Yutong U12 can cover up to 400 km on a single charge, and the quick charge station (installed in the VVT garage) fully charges the battery in 3.5 hours. The bus’s 423 kWh battery blocks are located at the front, rear, and roof. This is to achieve a better balance of mass.
The 12m long bus has a capacity for a total of 82 passengers, there are 25 seats and 54 standing places, 2 places for the disabled.
VVT public relations representative Patricija Zarankaitė said that this bus, unlike the five small Turkish electric buses on the 89th Karsan route in Vilnius, will run the Yutong on the 10th most complicated route. It is planned to drive 200 km every day and check if such a vehicle would be suitable for the Vilnius terrain.
