Asked about his expectations of this Seimas, the leader of the Labor Party said that we must support three women in power.

“You know, for the first time, three women are beautiful, smart, energetic, I want to wish them luck. Surely our group will support it if there are serious and real proposals. I wanted my group to support them all the time,” said the leader of the Labor Party.

The Minister of Health, Aurelijus Veryga, and the representative of the Union of Peasants and Greens of Lithuania, Rūta Miliūtė, arrived at the swearing-in ceremony without agreeing on the national costumes.

Which, in my opinion, corresponds to the highest protocol, as well as the spirit of this hall, and until today, when the oath is taken with one hand in the Constitution, ”said R. Miliūtė, a peasant representative.

The politician said he understood that working in the opposition would be a bit different than what he was used to.

“I very much look forward to constructiveness, consensus on the most important issues that will be important for Lithuania and the fewest possible disputes that lead nowhere,” he said.

After the swearing-in ceremony, the new Seimas will meet to elect the new head of the Seimas and his two deputies. The composition of the Board of Seimas and the Conference of Elders was also approved.

81 former MPs were re-elected to the thirteenth Seimas and 60 new members were elected. The Seimas will be made up of 38 women and 103 men. Their average age is 49 years, 99 percent. future parliamentarians have higher education, mainly law and political science.

Representatives from ten parties will work in the new parliament, the largest member – 50 – will have members of the Christian Democratic faction of the National-Lithuanian Union.

When the new parliament takes office, the government of Prime Minister S. Skvernel will return its powers to the president. She should be appointed to a temporary post until a new center-right government is formed, led by Ingrida Šimonytė.
