It is necessary to check the strength with the competitors, said the participants of both competitions with almost a voice. And the young coaches showed the initiative to start the season as soon as possible.
Alekna’s two sons set personal records
All the strongest disc jockeys in the country except world and European champion Andrius Gudžius participated in the discus throwing competition organized by the sports club Jusis Training. On the last pitch, the victory was ripped apart by Domantas Poška, who has been working with Vaclov Kidyk since this year, the result of which was 59.63m.
The second place was occupied by Aleksas Abromavičius (58.24 m), the third place was occupied by 17-year-old Mykolas Alekna (58.12 m), who threw a 1.75 kg disc. Meanwhile, Martynas, the eldest son of Olympic champion Virgilijus Alekna, released a tool the same weight as an adult (2 kg), reached a personal record, and met the standard of a sports teacher. The result of Martynas Alekna is 56.15 m.
“The goal of the competition was to make athletes eager to play sports after quarantine because I saw my eyes shine less when there is no competition. You are preparing for 10 months, and only the remaining two can appear. Of those 8 races, it rains in two, at other times maybe something hurts and may not show what you’re ready for during the season. It is not enough to pitch well in training, because everything changes when you come to the competition, ”explained Mantas Jusis, the organizer of the competition, who trains Alekna’s two sons.
The athletic trainer said it was difficult to carry out an adequate training process at the beginning of the quarantine, and the specialist described the work that his athletes managed to do as maintenance.
“We work in Portugal when we announce the quarantine, then we return, we close for 14 days. After that, we worked “online” in the forest, led us to make a bar somewhere. But there was no serious work for 4 weeks, he just kept fit, “said M.Jusis.
The results obtained by the students made the coach happy: according to M.Jusis, Mykolas can improve the Lithuanian record throwing record of 17 years, which belongs to Domantas Poška (59.96 m).
“Mykolas participated really well, meeting the standard for the World Youth Championship, which I consider to be great progress.” He released a 1.5kg puck last year and is now throwing a 1.75kg tool at the same distance. I see opportunities to launch about 60 meters this year, which would be a Lithuanian record. Martynas Aleknas met the standard of a sports master, reached a personal record and met the standard of the European Under-23 Championship. This shows that the boys are on the right track. Sometimes it is necessary to put pressure on Martynas during training, and Mykolas needs to be stopped, because as much as you tell him, he will, he will not leave the room “, – smiled M.Jusis.
The fastest 5000m runners are Egidijus Adomkaitis and Vaida Žūsinaitė
28 ladders proved their strength in the Vilnius 5000 race competition at the stadium. The organizers invited 30 runners, selected based on personal records, to the competition due to the conditions of the previously adopted quarantine facilities.
The results were not disappointing: even 10 participants covered the distance in less than 16 minutes.
“We set ourselves a goal to bring together 20 men and 10 women, and we supported this format. The organization added a bit of stress, as it was the first organized competition and I participated myself. It seems that everything went well, many participants gathered, which made me happy. People looked forward to running, actively registering, especially among the boys. This was the first serious start on the stadium floor, “said competition organizer Arnas Gabrėnas.
Among the men, the fastest was Egidijus Adomkaitis, who ran the distance in 15 minutes. 3.4 sec. The athlete representing Lithuania, the closest competitor in the European team championship in this match, was even half a minute ahead.
“We trained in the winter, then there was uncertainty about who to prepare for, why we run.” We seemed to be doing everything from an idea. But after that, marking that June 6, some kind of light came on. It was very necessary that this season opened. From all my colleagues who ran together, I heard that they were all motivated, they all tried more in training, ”said E. Domkaitis.
Povilas Rakštikas’ student considers the Lithuanian Championship and the Baltic Championship to be held in August as the most important competition of the season. It is true that in the near future the athlete would like to extend the distances and specialize in the marathon.
“My ultimate goal is to run the marathon quickly. Right now I am trying to increase my speed and I am doing quite well running 5 km. I focus more on this competition, and in the fall, if conditions allow, I plan to run a half marathon, maybe even a marathon, “- E. Domkaitis shared his plans.
A double return to the stadium awaited Vaida Žūsinaitė-Nekriošienė. The marathoner returned to competition at the stadium not only after quarantine, but also as a mother for the first time. The 5,000-meter Olympian ran in 16 minutes. 55 sec. and exceeded the goal set for himself before the start.
“It is so much fun that such a competition has been organized. Good humor, lots of support. Gathered true enthusiasts who want to run and support. I did not even expect that moment, I thought I had run until 17:15 – 17:30, but I ran faster than 17 minutes. At first I was careful, maybe that precaution saved me, because I kept a fairly constant rhythm, “said V.Žūsinaitė.
The athlete is happy with the progress in training, and her husband, kayaker Ričardas Nekriošius, also helped prepare properly for the competition.
“I did a lot of work in a few months, I ran many kilometers if I could. Maybe a month before the race I had faster training sessions and this week was lighter, calmer. The man allowed me to rest a few nights before the competition, it was very good “, – V.Žūsinaitė was happy.
