The Vilnius City Clinical Hospital (VMKL) will be replaced by 191 places in the near future instead of the supply of 306 places formed at the beginning of the quarantine (all – Antakalnio str. 124). Although, at the request of Clinicas Santara, VMKL continues to be a support hospital for patients with COVID-19, on Antakalnio street. 57 patients will be admitted again next week in inactive wards from the beginning of December.
After the last dozen COVID-19 patients currently being treated here have been discharged, all hospital facilities will be cleaned and disinfected, and a special inventory disinfection will be required. The services of the departments of internal medicine, surgical profile and outpatient surgery will be gradually renewed. Taking care to avoid outbreaks of COVID-19, rooms are being prepared for the isolation of incoming patients, where patients who have arrived for emergency care but do not have a PCR test will be housed.
As indicated in the municipal report, it is expected that next week the Admission Department, the Isolation Department, as well as the Department of Internal Medicine will be inaugurated, prepared for the safe reception of therapeutic patients.
The Santara Clinic, which coordinates the treatment of COVID-19 in the Vilnius region, has ordered the Vilnius City Clinical Hospital to return the previous maximum number of beds for active treatment of the coronavirus within three to four days, if necessary.
Employees of educational institutions are vaccinated in accordance with the plan proposed by the Council of Experts to the Ministry of Health (SAM), excluding employees of companies that provide services in educational institutions and administrative institutions of educational institutions that they do not have contact lessons with students. Under this procedure, vaccination of school principals, cleaners, cooks or food providers is postponed; the main condition for including employees working in educational institutions in the vaccinated list is permanent or temporary contact with apprentices.
AstraZeneca vaccines will be used by education sector employees up to age 55 until further notice by the Government and the SAM. The Board of Experts recommended that the age limit not apply, but SAM promises to make a final decision after receiving more information about the experience from other states.
Vaccination of seniors is tentatively scheduled to begin on February 22. – It will depend on the amount and timing of vaccines received by the state, according to a report from the capital city. The vaccines will be given first to Vilnius residents aged 80 and over, then to those aged 75 to 79, and then to those aged 70 to 74. and the last of the oldest – 65-69 years. population.
