The Egls sanatorium in Druskininkai and Birtone is laying off about half of its employees due to the severe disruption of client flows due to the pandemic.

The company announces its intention to lay off 266 employees at Druskininkai and 90 at Birton. According to Sodra, Druskininkai currently employs 616 people at Egls Sanatorium and 177 employees at Birton Source, where Egls Sanatorium operates.

The company will mainly lay off service workers, whose workload depends directly on the flow of customers: drivers, catering, customer registration staff, medical support staff.

The dismissal process will take place in several stages, leaving the last part of the workforce only in March. If the situation changes, Egls Sanatorium says that the redundancy process could be stopped or the number of redundant employees could be changed.

Employees will receive a termination notice after termination has been established. Aist Povilauskait, Head of Marketing and Communication of Sanatorio Egls, informed BNS that the Employment Service will be notified of the dismissal of the group’s employees after discussions with the Labor Council and the conclusion of the flow.

Last year, the Egls sanatorium obtained consolidated revenues of 28,674 million euros and obtained 4.29 million euros. Net profit in euros.
