A 45.5-meter deep diving pool with man-made underwater caves and Mayan ruins opened this weekend near Warsaw. It is declared to be the deepest such structure in the world.
The complex, called Deepspot, also has remains of a small boat for divers to view. The pool requires 8,000 cubic meters of water to fill, more than 20 times more than a traditional 25 meter long pool needs.
Unlike conventional swimming pools, the Deepspot complex could be opened despite existing restrictions in Poland, as it is a training center offering courses.
There are also plans to build a hotel on the sides, from where guests can watch divers from a depth of five meters.
“This is the deepest pool in the world,” Michal Braszczynski, a 47-year-old diving enthusiast and director of Deepspot, told AFP at the opening on Saturday.
To date, the Guinness Book of Records has identified the 42-meter deep pool in Montegorto Terme, Italy, as the deepest pool in the world.
However, the deepest pool in the world, which just opened its doors in Poland next year, may be surpassed by the 50-meter Blue Abyss pool, which is scheduled to open in the UK.
On the first business day of the new group, about ten clients took the exam to obtain an instructor license.
“There are no spectacular fish or coral reefs here, so it is not a substitute for the sea, but it is definitely a good place to learn and train so that you can dive safely in open water,” said Przemyslaw Kacprzak, an instructor from 39 year old diving. – And it’s a lot of fun here! It’s like a kindergarten for divers! “
Braszczynski said firefighters and the military would also use the pool.
Some 5,000 cubic meters of concrete were used to build this pool in more than two years. The construction cost about 40 million. zlotys (8.9 million euros).
