The daughter of a famous Kaunas businessman made a dizzying career in Dubai

“I am from Kaunas and I am proud of that. What does this mean? Nails, hair, eyelashes, bright makeup are an integral part of me and I don’t promise to change. I started my career in London, I worked in big banking projects for Goldman Sachs, HSBC and I always said that if my appearance did not suit anyone, it meant that we were out of the way and I should not work there, – Lina told LNK “Bus Everything “.

Lina left Lithuania as soon as she finished school, entered the University of Liverpool and became the first Lithuanian to receive a prestigious job at one of the world’s largest financial consulting and auditing firms, Deloitte.

A woman who did not learn English in school in the eleventh grade came up with the idea that she wanted to study abroad. He learned the language during the year, passed the exams and submitted the membership documents, but after receiving the “unconditional offer” letter, he did not realize that he had been accepted. Three days before the start of her studies, the woman received a second letter in which she indicated that if she did not appear at the university within two days, she would be removed from the student list.

“My dad speaks English well. As I remember yesterday, he dropped the newspaper so much, saying why did you work all summer and tell everyone they didn’t accept you? If you don’t even understand that you are accepted, how are you going to live in a foreign country and learn English? ”asked Algina Paulauskas, owner of the Algirdo Hotel in Kaunas, the father of Lina’s father.

At that time, there were no low-cost airlines flying from Lithuania, there were no smartphones. After buying a ticket from a travel agency and staying in a student dormitory, Lina slept with towels for the first three nights because she simply didn’t know where to buy the bedding. The least she expected was to meet the other half in college, a man who loves to party and rarely shows up for lectures.

“If I missed only three lectures in my freshman year, Jonathan attended three. But he had an infinite talent. We study equally well. In the end, we both got a job at the same Deloitte company, where there is competition: fifty thousand in one place, ”said an outspoken woman.

After finishing her studies, Lina turned to e-commerce and digital marketing, and Jonathan to finance. The man was dealing with giant companies that wanted to be listed on the London Stock Exchange. They both had a common dream of working and living in New York. When the dream had almost come true, Jonathan went on a business trip to Abu Dhabi. The trip, which had to last only a month, changed both their lives. The company executives no longer wanted to lead a talented man.

During the man’s work party, everyone started offering me jobs and I never worked with either oil or the Emirates. They then admitted that they did not want to release Jonathan, but he would not agree to stay in the Emirates if I did not. They offered me a job offer in which I had to write my salary myself and promised to find a job, ”said Lina, who lives in Dubai, about the beginning of the United Arab Emirates.

After a noisy celebration of her thirtieth birthday on the island of Ibiza, the woman decided to start a family, but did not expect to get pregnant just a month later. Motherhood appeared suddenly, for which Lina was unprepared.

“For the first time in my life, I did not know what was written on page 100 of the Financial Times, I did not know what the value of gold or the dollar was, although it used to be my routine. My life changed at a 180 degree angle, and high heels and designer suits were replaced by diapers and bottles. It was so difficult that I couldn’t figure out what to do, “Lina said.

The man kept asking how to help, and she just didn’t know. He only realized one thing: he needed his mother and he went to Lithuania for three months. Before having children, Lina and Jonathan earned the same, both pursued careers, but decided unanimously that the child needed a mother more in the early days, so Lina went on maternity leave, which cost Lithuania a million of dollars.

“Maternity prices cannot be named, but in business terms, I lost a million dollars in turnover in seven months. But even if the business had gone bankrupt, nothing would have changed, ”Lina told the show.

How did Lina manage to save her business? Why, before a match at a Hong Kong restaurant, did a woman and her husband want to share a plate and were angry that she had ordered expensive champagne? How was Lina and Jonathan’s wedding in Lithuania with the national performance of the group “Nemunas”? All this, in the LNK program “Bus todo” this Tuesday night at 8 pm
