This is certainly not the first interview with Tekla Baroti, in which she took a closer look at her life. But, I hope, the first one where I heard so many heartfelt laughs and undisclosed details.

The actress, who currently lives in London, says she wants to return to Lithuania and apply her acting skills acquired at Pinewood Studios in London to theater. Living abroad has taught Tekla to make bold decisions, without fear of leaving work, asking for help from acquaintances to make a dream come true and, of course, trying to make the latter live up to expectations.

The strong personality type that life has developed can also be heard during conversation. How did it get like this? Everything and more, in a conversation with 15 minutes.

Brother introduced him to Hollywood

Childhood is apparently the stage when dreams are born. Tekle too, and her biggest inspiration was her brother, who showed the young woman her first Hollywood movies.

“As soon as we bought the first computer, we shipped movies, and reviews were done almost daily. Then we started delving into the actors. This is my first acquaintance (smiles). I fell in love with the cinema. It was like a completely different world capturing my imagination. I thought, how wonderful it would be to immerse oneself in those stories, to tell the public a unique story ”, recalls T. Baroti his knowledge of the films.

Eventually, the small computer screen was no longer enough for the young woman. She also started walking to the movies. More and more different films, the names of the most famous actors among themselves, strongly attracted Tekle and stimulated her interest in a whole new world.

“It just came to our knowledge then. I didn’t know what it meant to be an actress in general, what the world of cinema was like behind the scenes. It was overwhelming to think about the acting profession, but since I was quite scared, I didn’t allow myself to believe that I could do it. ”, It is not hidden.

Laughing at whether the movie world could have adjusted the last name as well, Tekla laughs in fact, often asking about its uniqueness. However, Tekla received a strong last name from a father in Tajikistan. The girl always speaks to him only in Lithuanian, although she went to study in England as soon as she finished school. In Liverpool, Tekle studied theater and music show management and has lived abroad for 10 years.

The dream got out of work

Tekla’s first steps toward Hollywood came in 2016. It was this year that turned fateful in her life: while working for a television post-production company, she began to doubt whether she was happy with the clerical job.

“In this job, I was responsible for the reservations of the clients, I had to make sure that they had their own studios, capable of editing materials. We mainly work with what kind of TV show. For example, “Top Gear”. But then I realized that I wanted to try to express myself in an area that had attracted me from the beginning.

I decided to attend acting classes until I finally achieved so much that I decided to quit my job. I took a risky step, but a year passed, I saved money and saw what came out, ”Tekle recalls the step that changed her life.

To make the dream come true, the woman found her first projections herself. And only later did you get suggestions from the people you worked with or made contacts with. Without the motivation of those around you, as Tekle says today, probably nothing would have come out.

“I managed to meet some really great people in my life who helped me. Of course, during the screenings, I really gave myself, got roles even competing with those actors who can boast of truly unique stories.

Later I also discovered an informal theater and six months later, when the work year began, an agent found me and offered to represent me, ”recalls Tekle.

The changes in life brought the fruit they dreamed of: a few months later she was offered a film in “Maleficent: Mistress of Evil” by Joachim Rønning. And then everything turned upside down.

The biggest motivation comes directly from A. Jolie and M. Pfeiffer

In the selection of a Hollywood film, Baroti taught how important it is to fulfill the team’s vision, in which the actress is understood and not one of those who pursue a dream without acting training. After all, Tekle still does not have an academic diploma in actress and has acquired knowledge from various courses with specialists in certain fields.

One of the criteria for success is your attitude towards your time. Although we could imagine that actors have time for mistakes or even jokes on the set, the effort to achieve the result as quickly as possible is highly valued: “You cannot look with forgiveness at the tasks assigned to you, the work of other people. . When you work with professionals, you have a role to play here and now. “

Such rules were followed by Tekle herself, who had to play the role of the queen’s assistant in the aforementioned Disney studio film. Running after the famous Michelle Pfeiffer, he also had the opportunity to personally appreciate the professionalism of a star like Angelina Jolie.

“As soon as they got to the filming site, the work seemed to start, with no complaints, complaints that I can’t do it, or I want to get this or that. Imagine, we had a very challenging scene that we shot from morning to night, for about 11 hours, and the breaks were short. But the actresses were with us all the time, they had no special conditions, they only drank water or coffee and went back to work. The way they are committed to their roles has really fascinated me, ”she said. 15 minutes he told the girl.

Working with famous women, as Ms Baroti herself says, has become the best school for her, where she has acquired invaluable knowledge. She looked at the actresses and saw an extraordinary love of work.

“They could talk for a moment, say something, and then suddenly when the camera turned, they would suddenly switch to paper, showing a cold face and everything. You look at them and think: wow, here’s a level ”, Tekle does not hide her admiration for famous actors.

He didn’t experience Hollywood love, but he also suffered trauma.

As Tekla laughs, there was no time on set not only for negligence or laziness, but also for feelings. While it would seem that spending so much time together really creates a very comfortable environment for new feelings, Tekle emphasizes that they are associated with extremely professional communication with your film colleagues.

“All the action on the site reminded me of school: we all meet, have breakfast, talk. For example, the actor who played the prince is my partner, we really communicated a long time, but without intentions. Well, at least I didn’t realize it, “laughs Tekla.

Still, he receives questions about the other half not only during interviews, but also heard by friends and parents. In direct relatives’ questions about everyday life, work or everyday life, another question is often added: how is the time not?

“When you focus on work, you don’t even have time to look around you (laughs). I have to admit that the people around me are also very focused on their careers right now. Maybe it just takes time and it will seem … ”T.Baroti smiles.

The girl laughs that while working on this movie she collected more than love stories, but, get ready to laugh, trauma. Having fun recounting the adventures on set, he emphasizes that the movie really required a lot of testing.

“My injury was not bad, I just stretched my leg during filming and it swelled up, but there was no shortage of adventures for the others. In one scene, A. Jolie had to knock an officer against the wall, but it turned out that he was knocked down and the padding was not placed there. As a result, the actor playing the officer was knocked straight to the ground. And although it was only a minor injury, I had to stop filming, ”the girl recalls.

However, the situations were often reminiscent of comedy. For example, the actor who played the prince was so frequently injured by the sword that even his colleagues began to joke when he learned to hold it.

“But such serious injuries, thank God, as there were none, because they took great care of us. It fascinated me a lot, it was even difficult to get back to reality: everyone around you runs every second so that everything goes well, ordered, you feel like your favorite son ”, he laughs.

Also enters Lithuanian cinema

After trying Hollywood, he decided to immerse himself in Lithuanian cinema and look around the theater. And although you will learn the fundamentals of theater in England, you do not rule out the possibility of acting in Lithuanian theaters. But for now, although the situation is unclear due to the coneravirus pandemic, Tekla enjoys self-education.

“I try to accumulate creative ideas and in such a situation there is a little more time. All selections are done remotely, save time, there is no need to drive or travel, so I try to use this time just for that. I’m kidding that as soon as things get back to normal, the regular races will start again, so it’s time to use this time correctly, “laughs Tekla.

If the current situation does not change, Lithuanians will see T. Baroti in a romantic comedy with the most famous Lithuanian actors at the end of November: “I am also very happy and looking forward to this job. After all, this is my first Lithuanian film. Gradually, those selections emerge. I am also very interested in theater ”.

More free time allowed the actress to explore the details of her work, which could be improved or even highlighted. Experience has taught me that you don’t have to be distracted while filming, you have to give yourself in front of the cameras, and Tekla’s attention often shifts elsewhere.

“I have also noticed a personality trait such that I like to see what is happening in the environment. At the same time I want to participate everywhere, so I still have to work with that, I have to learn to change so that there is no one else to around me, only the person I work with.
