With the increase in the number of patients treated for coronavirus in Lithuanian hospitals, decisions on further restrictions could be made from next week, says Deputy Minister of Health Aušra Bilotienė-Motiejūnienė.

“There will be clarity at the beginning of next week. Given the situation we have today to keep the beds occupied, the number of illnesses is increasing, certain decisions will be made,” the deputy minister told BNS.

He said that he could not detail the restrictions under consideration at this time because they had not been finally agreed between the ministries.

On Wednesday, the Cabinet of Ministers agreed that new restrictions will be introduced in the run-up to the 300-bed limit for occupied COVID-19 patients. Currently, the hospital cares for 136 people.

The government’s decision stipulates that contact activities, with some exceptions, would be allowed only for those with a passport of opportunity.
