On the social network Facebook, it is written that the hospital has lost Algirdas Narinkevičius, the community illustrator, the long-term head of the Psychiatric Branch and the doctor of the Klaipėda Psychiatric Patriarch. His life died on January 10. The doctor died before the age of 72.

“After graduating from the Kaunas Medical Institute and doing an internship at the Kaunas Psychiatric Hospital, in 1974 A. Narinkevičus came to Klaipėda and started working as a psychiatrist, and then as a department head at the Klaipėda Psychiatric Hospital.

Since 1983 A.Narinkevičius directed the Psychiatric Hospital and, after the reorganization of the institution in 2008, he became the head of the psychiatric branch of the Republican Hospital Klaipėda.

The whole life of a doctor is related to Klaipeda. He will be remembered more than once as a great dedicated, caring and responsible physician, respected by the patient and the medical community, intelligent, indifferent to true human values, calm and sincere, and an experienced long term care manager.

The tireless and curious A.Narinkevičius constantly improved in Lithuanian and foreign psychiatric clinics, international scientific conferences, congresses and symposia, became interested in transactional analysis, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and obtained a certificate as a psychotherapist.

He also encouraged his young colleagues to take an interest in psychiatric innovations, ”says the hospital account.

“We have lost a Doctor and a great man. He was a representative of the old generation of doctors, who worked by vocation, wholeheartedly devoted to his chosen profession. A. Narinkevičius was not only a good doctor, respected and loved by patients and colleagues, but also a great guide. He looked after the people who worked in the branch, helped, encouraged or comforted many of them, “says Darius Steponkus, director of RKL with sadness.

2012 Narinkevičius was awarded the title of Meritorious Lithuanian Health Worker, awarded the Badge of Honor, and a year later he was appointed Chief Specialist of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Lithuania for the Klaipėda Region.

RKL leaders, colleagues and the entire community, the Lithuanian and foreign psychiatric community express their sincere condolences on the loss of Dr. A. Narinkevičius to his relatives.
