The State Emergency Commission (WESC) proposes not to restrict the movement of residents between cities and districts in the municipalities of the ring.

As Renatas Požėla, Commissioner General of the Police, said at a press conference after the WESC meeting on Monday, this is proposed in light of the problems that arose during the inspections of the population movement over the weekend.

“We can really see that the people are massively connected – the inhabitants of the city with the district and vice versa, they have real estate – the same gardens. We have seen a massive legal movement from the cities to the districts, just as we see that many residents live in the district or work in the city and vice versa (…), we have seen that the residents of the district need certain services from the public administrations from the city, ”said R. Disage.

“Seeing this issue, we proposed to submit a request to the Government through the WEU, so that perhaps the city and the district would be treated as a territorial unit and the same quarantine conditions would apply. I’d say there would be more logic than there is now, ”said R. Požėla.

WEEE has also decided to propose to the Government that the regulations be adapted to allow members of the same family or no more than two people who do not live together to travel by car.

According to the Chief of Police, the introduction of alternative fuses “would not liberalize, but it would make more sense and avoid traffic jams.”

To curb the spread of the coronavirus, the police carried out mass movement controls in the country from Friday to Sunday. In total, the police prevented more than 12,200 cars from continuing at the checkpoints over the weekend.
