The Municipality of Vilnius intends to organize the communication infrastructure and the surroundings of Kernavės Street. Under this managed area, there are pipes, which carry heat and hot water to the homes of Vilnius residents.
For this reason, the reconstruction of the thermal route has been carried out since Monday. “The pipes will be replaced, so now cogeneration water is discharged,” says Vilius Šerėnas, head of the Network Management Division of Vilnius Heat Networks AB.
The State Public Health Service allows the use of fluorescein, a green dye, in water. It is true that the paint powder itself is orange, but it turns green when it reacts with water.
It disperses fairly quickly when exposed to running water. These paintings are used not only by energy but also by entertainment organizers. Every year Vilnius residents commemorate St. Patrick’s Day at the Užupis Bridge, Vilnelė’s water also turns green thanks to these paintings.
The tradition of painting urban water bodies green exists in many parts of the world. VŠT uses harmless material to check pipes, internal building heating systems and hot water systems for leaks.
“As soon as the heating season is over, we will start preparing about 750 km of underground pipelines in the capital by October. We perform hydraulic tests and rebuild worn heat paths. Green painted water allows you to see if there are defects or cracks in the pipes.
In this way, we detect and eliminate them quickly. After completing all the aforementioned works, we welcome the heating season with peace of mind and knowing that the heat will reach customers reliably and efficiently, ”says V. Šerėnas.
The largest district heating company recalls that all these works can temporarily suspend the supply of hot water to the population. You can find out the exact time when there will be no hot water by entering the address of a specific house in a special search form on Chc.lt.
This year, VŠT is constantly continuing the reconstruction of the Vilnius pipelines, in which it will invest LTL 17.9 million. of which 46%. it consists of the support of the EU. At the beginning of the heating season, 5.3 km of old underground pipes, installed 45-60 years ago, will be rebuilt.
