Rivera’s disappearance was reported five days earlier when the actress’s four-year-old son was found sleeping on July 8 in an inflatable boat rented by his mother, authorities said.
On July 13, the actress’s body was found on the northeast edge of Lake Piru.
As soon as the body was found, Rivera’s son Josey Hollis told Dorsey investigators that they and his mother got out of the boat to swim in the lake. The boy said his mother later helped him board the boat, then turned and watched her disappear into the ocean, the sheriff said.
A few months later, investigators shared more about the circumstances of the incident. An autopsy revealed that the woman had Vertigo syndrome. It manifested itself by dizziness, nausea. It was noted that when he found himself in the water, these symptoms intensified, but for a time N. Rivera relieved his unpleasant feelings with medication.
Due to this health disorder, the actress was treated in the hospital for some time. The woman was also reported to have been a heavy smoker, and on the day of her death a syringe containing unclear material and a prescription for amphetamine was found in her purse.
Although N. Rivera’s mother described her as a great swimmer, it is believed that the tragic event could have been caused by several factors and previous problems. Cans of alcohol were also found on the ship in which N. Rivera and her son were sailing.
The autopsy conclusion indicated that N. Rivera’s death was an accident.
In the series “Choras” shown on Fox TV, N. Rivera played the lead singer of the Santana Lopes company of sports dancers for six seasons. He became the third major member of this series of actors to die from the start.
Actor Cory Monteith, who previously played on the series seven years ago, died at the age of 31 from an alcohol and heroin overdose. The series later lost one of its lead actors while it was still on the air.
And actor Mark Salling, with whom N. Rivera met at the same time, committed suicide in 2018 at the age of 35, pleading guilty to possession of child pornography.
