A few days ago, the unusually decorated space, the actress said, was already of interest to passersby.
“I actually saw the neighbors taking photos from our balcony with their mobile phones. Furthermore, I find that it is also fun for passers-by, and especially for children, to look around them, ”G. Baikštytė told Delfi.
The wife of Gražina’s daughter, the well-known photographer Adas Vasiliauskas, together with the capital’s tourism and business development agency Go Vilnius and the Municipality of Vilnius, start the project “Light up Christmas on the balcony”. Vilnius residents are invited to originally decorate their balconies and create a Christmas atmosphere closer to home.
G. Baikštytė’s house stands out not only for its colorful flashing lights, but also for its original idea, symbolizing today’s troubles. “You will not hide under Christmas under a mask” is written on a huge imitation of a medical mask that covers the frame of a balcony.
“It just came to our attention then. He offered to decorate my balcony himself. Why not? I was happy. I didn’t have to do anything myself. I knew it would be a huge mask hanging on the balcony frames, and through that mask you would see a fir tree decorated with toys. The whole balcony will also be illuminated by LED lights. Adas ordered a corpse that was covered with a certain cloth that mimicked the material of a medical mask. Well, and under that mask, he installed a lamp that, when it lights up, it intensifies its blue color. It’s difficult to see the day, but when all the lights turn on at dusk, it looks very beautiful, “said Gražina.
The actress assured that she had planned to decorate the house in this way for the first time, she had not tried to stand out in the past during the festive period. “It just came to our attention then. It is not uncommon for our area to decorate balconies so exceptionally. Usually limited to light bulbs. However, during the quarantine, enjoying the Christmas aura in this way turned out to be much safer than going downtown. the city, ”Gražina said.
The series of photographs by A. Vasiliauskas “Portraits from the Quarantine”, which warmly and creatively depicted Vilnius residents who stayed at home, toured not only Lithuania but also the whole world in the spring. According to the photographer, recalling the joy that the photoshoot with the drone brought people in the spring, now, after the return to quarantine, he decided to offer Vilnius residents a creative look at the current situation, and has the intention to capture the most interesting projects with the drone again.
“I invite Vilnius residents to create a celebration for themselves and their neighbors: light up Christmas on the balcony and become a highlight of the district. Creatively decorate your balcony, terrace, patio or window and show that even in the face of a pandemic , we can safely celebrate, support each other and have a little more fun living this unusual period. Unleash your imagination, see what you have on hand, do not limit yourself to traditional media “, invites the author of the project to join the initiative A. Vasiliauskas.
The artist has already captured several variants of balcony decoration with a drone, some of them illuminated with laser beams, others decorated with natural motifs or imitations of unusual exotic animals.
