In September, the opening of the oyster season is traditionally announced to the world, and more than two hundred species of these shellfish are counted. During the event in Vilnius, the chefs of the best restaurants in the country showed their skills in shelling and presenting exclusively oysters. After all, using the gel properly and quickly requires extraordinary mastery, not to mention the virtuous presentation of the gel.
The oyster shell contest took place in Jonas Basanavičius Square, in front of the Lithuanian National Philharmonic, and the big dinner was moved to the hotel’s inner courtyard. A specially selected competent panel evaluated the speed, precision, uniqueness, general image and taste of the participants.

This event always has a noble mission. During the dinner, the musical performance was organized by the violinist Liepa Jurgutavičiūtė, and part of the funds raised will be donated to the Mstislav Rostropovich Support and Charity Foundation, which supports young talents of Lithuanian music.
And the chef at the tables invites you to taste the dishes from the tasting menu, the main highlight of which is a majestic oyster called its powerful aphrodisiac. The main dish that was served was Fideua with oysters. Dessert: oyster ice cream with seaweed chips.
The championship was organized by the Lithuanian Association of Hotels and Restaurants, the Lithuanian Academy of Oysters and the Imperial Hotel & Restaurant.
