The state company Turto Bankas, which manages and ensures the maintenance of state buildings, is halting the public auction of the former Infectious Diseases Hospital in Žvėrynas district, which will be held again next year. The auction is terminated according to the letter received from the Department of Cultural Heritage of the Ministry of Culture, which recommends reviewing and clarifying the valuable features of the complex. Once reviewed, a new auction for this complex will be announced.

“After evaluating the arguments of the Department of Cultural Heritage, we made the decision to suspend the auction. With the help of cultural heritage specialists and the Vilnius City Municipality, we will review the valuable features of the complex. We hope that this procedure creates the preconditions to ensure the sustainable development of this area and helps to avoid situations where different expectations of investors, communities, wealth specialists and self-government lead to conflict situations at the stage of implementation of the project, ”says Mindaugas Sinkevičius, CEO of Turto bankas.

The valuable features of the building complex were overhauled in 2008, that is, more than 12 years ago, and due to changes in their condition, objectively require further review and heritage assessment. (…) The Department supports the privatization and renovation model of this group of buildings as soon as possible, but proposes to do so only after detailing the specific conditions and establishing clear requirements for the protection and use of cultural property and real estate, ”he writes Turto Bankas. in a dated letter from the Department.

Participants who have registered for the public auction will have the registration fee and deposit refunded. The Property Bank apologizes for the inconvenience caused.
