The state company Turto Bankas, which manages and ensures the maintenance of state buildings, is halting the public auction of the former Infectious Diseases Hospital in Žvėrynas district, which will be held again next year. The auction is terminated according to the letter received from the Department of Cultural Heritage of the Ministry of Culture, which recommends reviewing and clarifying the valuable features of the complex. Once reviewed, a new auction for this complex will be announced.
“After evaluating the arguments of the Department of Cultural Heritage, we made the decision to suspend the auction. With the help of cultural heritage specialists and the Vilnius City Municipality, we will review the valuable features of the complex. We hope that this procedure creates the preconditions to ensure the sustainable development of this area and helps to avoid situations where different expectations of investors, communities, wealth specialists and self-government lead to conflict situations at the stage of implementation of the project, ”says Mindaugas Sinkevičius, CEO of Turto bankas.
„The valuable features of the building complex were overhauled in 2008, that is, more than 12 years ago, and due to changes in their condition, objectively require further review and heritage assessment. (…) The Department supports the privatization and renovation model of this group of buildings as soon as possible, but proposes to do so only after detailing the specific conditions and establishing clear requirements for the protection and use of cultural property and real estate, ”he writes Turto Bankas. in a dated letter from the Department.
According to preliminary estimates, the adjustment of cultural characteristics may take 3 to 6 months.
Registration for the auction took place from December 14-16, and the auction itself was supposed to take place December 21-28. The initial sale price of the complex is 5.23 million. EUR. Participants who have registered for the public auction will have the registration fee and deposit refunded. The Property Bank apologizes for the inconvenience caused.
A complex of 13 buildings with a total area of 3.8 thousand m2 is located in the Žvėrynas district. kv. m, construction began at the beginning of the last century. Most of the wooden complex consists of 6 hospital buildings and ancillary buildings spread over 2 hectares. Most of the buildings are in poor or very poor condition, so it was decided to sell them and invest the proceeds in the construction of another hospital.
The Property Bank took over the hospital complex from the Ministry of Health in 2019 in the spring. The funds received for this will be used to build the Pediatric Corps of the Santara Clinics of the Vilnius University Hospital. Turto bankas participates in this project as a financier.
This is not the first large state-owned object to be sold in the Žvėrynas district. In November last year, the old complex of the Children’s Hospital and the Child Development Center was sold. The auctioneer then offered 4.4 million. Eur for buildings and land.
