The announcement of the clinic on the Internet made me feel uncomfortable, it humiliated a group of people.

This reached one of the clients who submitted an application to the Office of the Ombudsman for Equal Opportunities: the company received a warning about discrimination against the elderly.

Representatives of the clinic assured that the company does not divide services by age. According to them, this registry reported on health care services previously provided to Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) students. The health of the students was checked in the university facilities. The entry, according to representatives of “Your Family Clinic”, has been removed.

The Equality Ombudsman, Birutė Sabatauskaitė, concluded that, although it was claimed that a description of services of this type was no longer available, during the investigation this information continued to be published on the clinic’s website. There is no mention in the file that these services are specialized and intended for KTU students (they were no longer provided long before the applicant filed the complaint).

After analyzing the content of the information on health services, the Ombudsman for Equal Opportunities concluded that such wording presupposes that readers have privileges for young people. The words ‘elderly and severe patients’ form a negative attitude towards older patients, are opposed to busy young and young.

It also gives the impression that older patients are worth avoiding – they are offered separate services to keep the younger ones out of touch.

Your Family Clinic has finally removed the publication from the site.
