Once the contract has been signed with the UAB CoReal, which will carry out the works, the preparatory works of the work will begin. The project is expected to be completed in the summer of 2022. The value of the contract works is almost 1.5 million. euros.
Elder from Šnipiškės, where about 19 thousand people live. Vilnius stood out as a hotbed of social problems, unsafe environment, low employment, lack of green and recreational areas, unattractive investment environment. The managed area has been abandoned until now, previously it was furnished with old and unused garages.
The project was designed with the needs of the community in mind to create a variety of functional areas suitable for leisure.
The territory is formed as part of the Šnipiškės system of public spaces. The main objective is a local community space that is freely accessible to all citizens. Functionally, the area can be divided into three parts. In the northern part, a pedestrian crossing is formed between Giedraičių and Kintų streets. In the western part, it is planned to rebuild the section of Kintų Street. A plaza is projected in the southern part.
The main accent of the square will be the roof terrace, after which it will be possible to organize various events or fairs, and on the terrace – to sit and admire the view from above. A children’s and sports area will also be established in Skvere.
The landscaping of the area will recall the city garden with ornamental fruit trees: manure walnut trees, broadleaf pears, ornamental apples, as well as chestnuts, pendulums, Japanese rowan will be planted.
