In this study, carVertical analyzed more than half a million automobile history checks. The results show that data on the history of BMW cars was searched more frequently in the Lithuanian market.
1st place – BMW 5 Series
The BMW 5 Series is one of the most coveted used cars. This is evidenced by the history verification data for this model. German mid-size luxury sedans and pickups (and later emerging hatchbacks) attract many drivers in the country.
Of all the car history reports ordered in Lithuania, BMW 5 Series models accounted for 5.8 percent. The history of the 2007, 2010 and 2011 models was checked more frequently.
According to a previous study by carVertical, counterfeit mileage cases are more common in cars of this brand. New BMW buyers should take every opportunity to learn the history of the particular car that interests them.
2nd place – BMW 3 Series
Approximately every twenty (5.1%) car inspected on the platform was a BMW 3 Series. The E90 (E91, E92) and 2006-2008 model generations stood out in popularity. In the domestic used car market, it is a common car.
Most of these cars are imported into Lithuania from Western Europe, but not all buyers of BMW 3 Series know that foreigners of these models tend to reject them when their operation becomes too complicated (or when they become morally obsolete).
These cars are usually bought for long daily distances, so only by checking the history can you detect traces of altered mileage or poor maintenance.
3 lives – Audi A6
Among the most popular cars inspected in carVertical’s databases is the Audi A6, which ranks third. It is a kind of analogue of the BMW 5 Series, offering excellent combinations of practical and ergonomic solutions.
The Audi A6 was found to account for just over 3.6% of all historical reports, with the most inspected in 2006, 2007 and 2012.
Although cars in the Premium segment dominate on this list, they lag behind the models of the economy class in terms of popularity in the Lithuanian car fleet.
4 VIET – Volkswagen Passat
Passat is not only the most popular Volkswagen model in Lithuania. It is the most popular model in the country among all used cars. That is why, in addition to the most luxurious models, they also joined this list.
The Passat competes with the Audi A6 at position 3 in terms of popularity from history check reports. It was recorded that the history of the VW Passat manufactured in 2006, 2007 and 2016 was mainly observed during the last year. Of all the reports, these models accounted for just under 3.6 percent. part.
The Passat is popular in Lithuania for its comfort, practicality, and relatively inexpensive operating characteristics that meet the needs of the country’s drivers.
5th place – Audi A4
The Audi A4 completes the top five reports on the history of the most requested car models. For the past 12 months, Lithuanians who like cars in the Premium segment have been eager to choose these models, and especially the versions produced in 2007-2009.
Like the BMW 3 Series, the Audi A4 offers a wide range of gasoline and diesel engines, comfortable body types. These models attract some buyers due to their unpretentious, conservative and at the same time elegant appearance, good ergonomics and acoustic comfort.

How to choose a used car
When choosing a used car, the most important thing is to properly assess its condition. The age of the car is only one of the criteria to get an idea of its possible wear. However, the odometer readings and the condition of the mechanical units say much more.
Technically falsifying odometer readings is neither complicated nor expensive. Meanwhile, “spinning” the mileage 100-200 thousand. miles or more, unscrupulous resellers can charge significantly more for the car they sell than it is actually worth.
And until the glitch starts, drivers won’t even suspect that something is wrong with their car. All drivers should only buy used cars when they are sure of their condition and find that there will be no unwanted surprises in the historical report.
According to carVertical, counterfeit mileage or hidden defects can, in some cases, inflate the selling price of a car nearly double.
Also, it is recommended to avoid suspiciously cheap models. Sometimes the prices of imported cars from Western Europe are clearly lower than in the countries where they come from.
