Dominika Banevič is well known to Lithuanian break dancers and fans. For 14-year-olds, there are no levels among Lithuanian break dancers. And not in vain. The teenager discovered her passion for dance with only 5 years and since then she has not spent a day without rest.
“My path of advancement began when I was 5 years old when I saw myself dancing on television. Automatic switch. I started trying to repeat the movements, watching the dance fights. When I was 8 years old, my mom took me to training. Break is my life. I have found myself here and will pursue my goal, ”he says firmly.

“I really wanted to learn to dance”
Before attending workouts, she tried to replicate the dance moves at home. Dominica says she had to persuade her mother to let her dance at first because she thought it was a youth dance that was bad for her health when she turned her head: “At first no one believed me, but after the first training, my my mother he believed me. “
Still, his mother, Alina, says with a smile that it was not really like that: “I had never been before a break. I thought it was too early. I did not want to put the 5-year-old in the hands of anyone. I was looking for a good Coach. Acquaintances recommended Yevgeny. So I thought it was too early, but now I know that the sooner the better. “
“I believed it from day one when I brought it to training. From the age of 5, he always danced and greeted. They told me to film and put it on YouTube. I saw that she was really impressed that she really liked him.
When I was 8 years old, I took her to training, the coach initially said that as a child, I would prefer a couple of months and everything. But I knew there was going to be something more serious. Yes, it was pretty tiny and tiny. For example, it took a lot of physical preparation to stand on his hands. She tried to stand on his hands every beautiful day. He was afraid to even see them try to stand on those sticks. But gradually we succeeded, “says Alina.
Dominika says that when she got to her first workout and saw it as a dance break for the first time in reality, she already knew that she would never stop dancing herself. The teenager says that even when she was 8 years old, she didn’t care about more girls or boys in the group: “I wasn’t looking for friends because I didn’t come for that purpose. I really wanted to learn to dance. I immediately fell in love with my coach. “
The youngest champion
The first revolutionary battle took place when Dominic was 9 years old, and on July 24 she became the winner of the elite breakout tournament, The Legits Blast. Not only will she go down in history as one of the winners, but she has also become the youngest champion.
“I was the youngest participant and I became the youngest champion. This championship has been going on for 10 years and I was the first to win at such a young age, ”she says.
Dominika says there was a lot of excitement before this championship, but there was no need to seek motivation: “I always have motivation. As I say, if dancing is your life, there is no need to seek motivation. The emotion is always there, no matter what you have to dance before. I work in the hall every day for 6-8 hours. When I arrived, there was excitement because I still had to dance in front of the older dancers.
Breaking my life and me in the first place. I don’t need friends, I don’t need to sacrifice anything because I give everything to break up. I want to be in the hall, I want to dance and I’m so good. “
She says she hoped to be among the top 4 dancers in the championship on the way to the championship, but her mother Alina says she already knew that Dominica would be his winner already on the way to the championship. Alina herself regrets only one thing: she forgot to bring the Lithuanian flag to the competition, because she wanted to wrap her daughter’s shoulders with it.

Everywhere near
“Whoever knows me knows that I am everywhere. I couldn’t sit at home when she was at the championship and not watch her dance. When she goes out to dance, it gives me so much adrenaline that I can’t even express how I feel then. I probably wouldn’t be that excited if I danced myself. I don’t listen to any of the rivals, nothing. I can only see her dancing. It’s such a nice feeling to see him win. When we drove, she also said that she would like to be among the best, and I already knew that she would win because I believed in her, ”says Alina with a smile.

The dancer herself does not hide her dream of competing in the Paris Olympics, which will be in 3 years. Alina says she also has people to help her daughter get ready. Clearly everything is happening online, because he receives advice from coaches who live abroad.
“Dominica’s dream work takes place 24 hours a day. If you want, I know you will. I didn’t stop believing you for a second. I don’t know a single person who would go that way toward his dream.
You need to be strong both physically and psychologically here. I am not just a mom. I am a psychologist and stylist for her. I help her because sometimes it gets very difficult. Sometimes everything turns blue from training. It is very difficult to see her like this, but she is used to pain, ”says Alina.
This is confirmed by the Dominican routine: when he wakes up, he eats and goes out to train. He runs 5 km and then from 11 in the morning until noon he gives himself all the time and takes a break.
Spoke of dreams
It is true that not everything on the Dominican highway is going well. Although she has become the Lithuanian champion and won the right to compete in the European break championship, the organizers of this year’s competition did not allow her to do so. He said he was too young. Dominica wrote letters asking for an exception, as the rules allow, but the organizers did not believe in its power and closed the door.
“If the competition is related to the Olympics, there is a rule that you must be at least 16 years old. It allows dancers of any age to participate in almost all other championships, whether you are known or have a lot of experience. Age does not it was important in this championship in Slovakia. It was a very good experience, “he explains.
When asked about other Olympics, Dominika has no doubts for a second: she may become the first Lithuanian break dancer to enter the Olympics.
“It just came to our attention then. After this victory in the World Cup, others trusted me more. I am 100 percent. I’m sure I’ll go to the Olympics. I will work hard and hard to make this dream come true, ”he says, adding that all it takes is loving what you do, knowing what you want, and not stopping working toward your goal.
It is probably not surprising that a teenager’s dreams are related to a break: “I will give a rest for a lifetime. After the Olympics, I will also pursue my other goals. I dream of opening my rest school, teaching children, driving after competitions, championships, sharing experiences ”.
And the Dominican mother Alina says that her dream is very simple: “I want her to be happy.”
