Almost two weeks have passed since the Seimas members were sworn in, but even 21 MPs have yet to find assistants and work alone.

Meanwhile, other members of the Seimas sought assistants among former MPs, fellow party members and even family members of fellow party members. Conservative Paulė Kuzmickienė, who will serve on the Health Affairs Committee, has hired the wife of opera soloist Vismante, wife of Valdas Benkunskas, deputy member of the National Union of Lithuanian Christian Democrats, as an assistant.

It has also been announced that Zigmantas Balčytis will be assisted by former Seimas member and former Justice Minister Juozas Bernatonis, and “employee” Vytautas Gapšis will be assisted by two former MPs Artūras Skardžius and Vilija Filipovičienė.

However, it turns out that most of his party’s former parliamentary assistants were employees of “peasants.”

Former Seimas member Levutė Staniuvienė, who became famous for hanging himself from a branch and organizing a trip to Provence, will help “peasant” MPs Valius Ąžuolas and Antanas Vinkas.

Former MP Vida Ačienė will also help two “peasants” from the new term at the same time. She is among the assistants of the new faction of the Lithuanian Peasants and the Union of Greens Aušrinė Norkienė and Eugenijus Jovaiša.

Former Vice President of Seimas Arvydas Nekrošis and outgoing Health Minister Aurelijus Veryga will have to seek assistants again.
