Professor Vaidotas Urbonas, a gastroenterologist at the Hospital Infantil de las Clínicas Santara at VU Hospital, affirms that a healthy breakfast is important for a successful and productive start to the day.
According to him, research has shown that food has a great impact on scientific results. It has been observed that children who eat breakfast do better on tests and exams than those who are hungry for homework.
A person likes to smoke, but we don’t tell them. Go ahead, keep smoking!

Snacks are also important for a growing body: very active and agile children quickly destroy their glucose stores in the liver or muscles, so they need to constantly replenish them. That is why children want sweets.
“The snacks should not be deficient in glucose or carbohydrates. That is why we say that the healthiest snack is fruits and vegetables,” said V. Urbonas.
So what is most beneficial for students to eat in the morning, and what to choose as snacks? Prof. V. Urbonas.
– The importance of breakfast for the student, why is it important for a child to come to school after eating and being full?
– Research has shown that diet is of great importance for scientific results. The progress of the dining room is better than that of the hungry.
It has been observed that children who eat breakfast do better on tests and exams than those who are hungry for homework. Therefore, satiety leads to good grades, productivity, good mood, increased concentration. Of course, that breakfast doesn’t have to be very heavy, full of fatty and meaty food.
Another thing, those who eat a large breakfast instead of a large dinner tend to be slimmer and less likely to become obese. These are the two essential things that we recommend you to have a healthy breakfast.
Fried foods contain carcinogens and carcinogens. When fried in oil, the body gets trans fatty acids that cause cardiovascular disease.

– What should a child have for breakfast, what food is best for the young body?
– There must be light food. I recommend cooking carbohydrate-enriched foods with a low glycemic index. It can be a cereal or vegetable porridge, suitable for eggs, fish with garnish. Such breakfasts are healthy.
Cereal or vegetable porridge is a great source of healthy carbohydrates, the healthiest recommendation for good scientific results.
Oatmeal porridge for breakfast can be eaten seasoned with butter or oil, with a glass of milk, yogurt. Proteins from dairy products are helpful, but glucose from porridge is especially necessary for brain and mental work. In addition, the food at breakfast should be warm, as it is better tolerated by the stomach than cold.
I am not referring to the fact that pancakes are baked with flour and flour has a high glycemic index, such food promotes obesity. Additionally, pancakes can lead to gastroesophageal reflux disease characterized by heartburn pain.

If we look at what children eat for breakfast, we will find dry flakes filled with milk or sandwiches on more than one table. This is not a very healthy food.
I call dry flakes sweet chips. It is not a natural and healthy food, like sandwiches, because it is baked flour, bread with a moderate glycemic index.
Breakfast
– And, for example, children’s favorite baked flour pancakes with jam?
– This is a tragedy. It would be good if the children did not know your taste. The bottom line is that they are not born with pancakes in their mouths and they do not eat pancakes from the first days of life. Fried foods contain carcinogens and carcinogens. When fried in oil, the body gets trans fatty acids that cause cardiovascular disease.
I am not referring to the fact that pancakes are baked with flour and flour has a high glycemic index, such food promotes obesity. Additionally, pancakes can lead to gastroesophageal reflux disease characterized by heartburn pain.
Realistically, I don’t see any positive effects on pancake health, unless the pancakes are better than absolutely nothing.
One should not indulge in a child’s taste, as children generally like French fries, pancakes, coke, but not everything we like can be given. A person likes to smoke, but we don’t tell them, go ahead, keep smoking.
Children need to be more strict, because they do not know the consequences and do not understand why they cannot eat delicious but unhealthy food. For a 5-10 year old, some kind of cancer, heart disease, mysticism, words that say nothing.
You have to be strict, there is no such product and that’s it. There are families who do not eat unhealthy food and live well and have no problems.

– What do you need to know about snacks? When should children snack and what should make up the snack diet?
– The snack is a meal. If a person likes porridge, fish, meat, he can eat it several times a day, only in smaller quantities.
We call the sandwiches “snacks”, we consider them frivolous meals. When, what periods to have a snack? There are no hard and fast rules, but non-obese children are very active, agile, they quickly destroy that glucose supply in the liver or muscles, and want to constantly replenish them. That’s why they want sweets.
So a snack must have glucose, enough carbohydrates. That is why we say that the healthiest snack is fruits and vegetables. They are convenient to take to school, to eat, so as not to be afraid of spoiling, unlike, for example, sandwiches. 5 servings of fruits and vegetables a day are recommended, so you can put carrots, avocados, apples, pears, chopped watermelons, melons and bananas at school. The fruit must be ripe, otherwise the heartburn will gnaw.

Dairy products such as yogurt with natural berries, kefir with fruits or vegetables can be used as a snack. Small amounts of porridge are good too.
Parents should focus on those snacks. There are children who eat very soon after. Hang a few tablespoons of porridge and fly away. If you want to eat for an hour, the same heated porridge will work again.
So a snack doesn’t have to be one special food, another.
Of course, the sandwiches are better than nothing. But a sandwich, especially one with bread, is definitely not a good sandwich. Every now and then it’s out of trouble as a snack if it’s with granulated bread. Not healthy hot sandwiches because it’s like pizza. A milk sausage is suitable for a smooth snack, if it contains meat of the best quality.
But fruits, vegetables for school – the best option.

– Food in schools, nurseries, do you think it ensures a healthy diet for a child?
– I think there are positive changes. The quality of the food has definitely improved. Of course, every kindergarten or school is different, but the general trend is for educational institutions to follow the recommendations of specialists.
The problem is that children do not eat at school or in kindergarten. This is not an educational institution, but a problem for parents.
If parents accustom the child to eat a dry breakfast, sweet pancakes, naturally, when he comes to kindergarten he will not eat simple porridge, he does not like it. Then parents get angry, but it is their fault because children have to eat similar foods at home as in kindergarten or school. In this case, the child will gradually get used to that food.
Last but not least, there is creativity and aesthetics. Somewhere I saw how the vegetables were cut into various figures of typewriters, airplanes, the child took it away and ate it all. The next time the same vegetables were presented normally, they were only washed, then the child did not touch them.
Another pretty badass method these days is starvation. When she is very hungry, she does not want to, she eats everything. During the war, there were no such dilemmas as to what to eat. A drastic, but effective way. Only one who can accommodate parents feels pain at seeing a hungry child and succumbing to his wishes.
