For several years now, I have been plagued by the idea that there are no more foolish nations in the EU family of nations than the Lithuanians. I am only looking at the European space and I do not see other such striking examples of national deception. I am neither a naive nor an ethnic masochist, a person who takes pleasure in torturing his compatriots; I know that stupidity happens almost everywhere. But I don’t find such a scale and level of manipulation in the EU. I can’t judge everyone; We may not be a world leader, but I have not found any example of this magnitude in the well known EU.
Well, let’s consider together in which other EU country you would find such a large and rich bouquet of political stars in the national elite with nicknames inherited from the past. Let’s mention the most important ones: “Uncle”, “Magnolia”, “Farmer”, “Shatrija”. After all, there are “Maria”, “Pedro”, “Anus” and the Pleiades of other people in the public political space until now.
We are not talking about tractors or milkers recruited in those days, but about the most significant social figures, about the exemplary behavior patterns that respected citizens have shown us so far. The bearers of these nicknames are periodically mentioned in books, newspaper articles, but (attention!), Those people “adorned” with nicknames have never tried to defend their honor in court, not even knowing the true truth in combat is avoided. legal.
Almost all compatriots who are still civic conscious and do not sleep in political slumber know these nicknames, but are embarrassed to ask. And our “elite” supports that shyness as supposed political correctness by all available information / misinformation media.
Let us ask in which other journalists from EU countries with public interest would be ashamed to ask: Mr. Dėdule, is it true that you committed to this nickname in those days? If so, did he have the moral and legal right to seek the highest? posts in Lithuania – with little perceived shyness, out of fear or in the performance of a task, such a question has not been asked in public for thirty years.
However, without an answer to this fundamental question, all the others are secondary, we should feel stupid: when we talk about high-level political figures, their biographies must be transparent, without gray spots. Otherwise, mistrust of what that person says and does remains. However, the lack of confidence in the nation’s high-ranking politician does not have adequate powers to represent the public interest.
We seem stupid and shy without knowing what Magnolia really is. After she publicly acknowledged that her studies at the KGB school were a well-known fact, a tsunami of questions had to arise. I learned specifically what commitments they had made, if those commitments were still in effect, etc. That would be the case in an intelligent and certainly democratic society, but in an intensely foolish country, this confession prevailed.
In an optimistic and courageous society, it would also not be taboo to ask Fermeris: Can Lithuanian society trust you on the subject of your true biography ?: Why did you run in the presidential elections, despite the fact that such a race was a serious one violation of the Constitution? You couldn’t live in Siauliai and go to work in Chicago every day, the three years before the election. With your actions you contributed to the spread of moral and legal nihilism, the stupidity of your nation and the degradation of the state.
The nicknames mentioned have become a state secret and a taboo in public life in Lithuania. I don’t know of another EU country where this is possible. We know of individual cases similar to those discussed in Poland, Latvia and elsewhere. However, nowhere has the phenomenon reached such a level and scale. And this only leads us to believe that Lithuanians are the most manipulated and foolish nation. Maybe not in the whole world. What would a Swede or a Finn have to answer if they asked us – are there people without their nicknames among their political leaders?
When a nation is fooled by such an important issue, it is easy to “knead” it at the request of the “kneaders.” Not only does he not oppose the obvious scams, such as the economic ones: the delivery of the Mazeikiai oil, the closure of the Ignalina nuclear power plant, the “bankruptcy” of the Snoras Bank, and so on. Constantly collects those who carry out these scams. And this is the highest league of stupidity.
That said, it doesn’t mean we have to give in to pessimism and give up. This would mean refusing to fight for the future of the Homeland. On the contrary, telling the truth means moving towards a better future. I hope this is how most readers of the text understand my intention.
