The Health Minister urged residents not to call the hotline to repeat the CRP test to demonstrate recovery.

“It is not necessary, I want to remind you, because we receive questions from family doctors, fears that it is feared that recovery will be declared without repeating the text of the PCR. (…) There is a fear that that person will be allowed to work and this will also overload the direct line with completely unnecessary work, ”he said.

The test may be positive, but the person is no longer infected.

Ligita Jančorienė, head of the Santara Clinics Infectious Diseases Corps, recalled that at the beginning of the pandemic, as soon as the virus was announced, there was such a procedure that it was necessary to receive two negative PCR smears for 24 hours. period.

“But during that long time, enough material and evidence has already accumulated that the coronavirus generally does not remain viable for more than 10 days,” emphasized L. Jančorienė.

According to the new published guidelines, it is emphasized that the duration of isolation in case of infection and relapse to Covid-19 infection should definitely be shortened.

Testing is changing: COVID-19 tests are taken in 2 broadcasts at the Vilnius mobile point, recorded every 3 minutes

“All people who develop a mild to moderate form of Covid-19 infection remain contagious for up to 10 days. Our experience in testing patients also shows that our tests can remain positive for longer. “… However, detecting a virus does not equal the possibility of infecting another,” the doctor explained.

Therefore, he stressed that it is not necessary to repeat the tests, except in severe forms of the disease, where the virus can be isolated for up to 20 days.

“Exceptions can be made in the case of immunosuppressive conditions, this will still need to be specified in the Ministry letters,” said L. Jančorienė, adding that other procedures can be provided in such individual cases.
