“No one really wants to go back to quarantine, but it’s worth keeping residents aware, because a lot is up to us.” It is worth knowing those lists of countries to which travel is not recommended, “R. Tamašunienė told reporters on Tuesday.

The situation is not stable.

He noted that the situation regarding the spread of Covid-19 in the country is not yet stable, as an increasing number of new infections are being registered.

“It just caught our eye then. Of the last 15 to 17 cases, there are only a few cases today. All of the institutions are ready. We have provided officials, doctors, protective gear if the situation worsens and becomes less manageable. It is planned to buy medicines and vaccines, if they appear on the market, through the centralized acquisition of the European Commission, “said R. Tamašunienė.

The Minister hopes that the second wave of Covid-19 will not reach Lithuania. She is glad that the Lithuanian population takes their health and safety quite responsibly, some of them wear protective masks in public places.

“We still hope that the second wave will not happen in Lithuania and that the vaccine will appear before the waves reach Lithuania.” But experts see that this increase depends, of course, on the behavior of society, on the means of relaxation, on how society relaxes and no longer sees the need to protect itself against it, “said R. Tamašunienė.

The government emergency commission on Tuesday at the Interior Ministry discussed preparations for the second wave of the coronavirus, managing the current situation.

The commission discussed the provision of personal protective equipment and disinfectants during the October parliamentary elections.

The commission members also spoke about the willingness of state and municipal institutions and bodies to respond to possible nuclear or radiological accidents at the Astrava nuclear power plant.
