“The years have been difficult, but they have taught us to adapt to the situation and constantly seek new solutions. I know one thing: the quarantine won’t take away our most beautiful winter vacation. Like every year, the Kaunas fir will be unique. I invite you to see the lighting of the Christmas tree safely and cozy at home. The main accent of Kaunas Christmas in the Town Hall Square will be waiting until the Feast of the Magi, so let’s not rush to enjoy this period. I wish you all a quiet and sweet holiday, ”said the Mayor of Kaunas, Visvaldas Matijošaitis.

According to Agnė Augonė, Head of the Department of Culture of the Kaunas City Municipality, although Christmas will be different for many people this year, it is important to maintain a sense of family. Letters sent in person invite entrepreneurs to contribute ornate shop windows and display cases and safe takeout, in accordance with current restrictions and requirements.

Therefore, Kaunas residents and city guests, who have come to admire the Christmas tree, are expected to have the opportunity to enjoy the delicacies and hot drinks that are inseparable from this pre-holiday period.

However, next to the green Christmas scarf, one of the houses will sprout, it will be the residence of Santa Claus. Unfortunately, quarantine restrictions will not allow you to visit him.

This year, according to A. Augonė, all the entertainment will move to a virtual space, where children will be able to write letters to Santa Claus or build something together with their parents, as before, special shows are being created, which should see the light of day. November 28.

The Christmas tree lighting festival, to be filmed on a closed stage, will be broadcast on LRT without spectators. According to A. Augone, efforts are being made to maintain the same format of the holiday, so it will not be cheaper this year.

Concert of the most outstanding performers

“It will be a festive concert, smelling of Christmas sweets, morengi, that inspires sincerity, ignites the inner fire of each spectator. At the end of the day, it is not only about the illumination of the fir trees of the city, but also the spirit of waiting for the winter holidays, which this day will bring to all homes ”, affirm the organizers of the concert.

Traditionally, the country’s most famous stage stars will perform their works at the Christmas tree lighting event. The hit car will be illuminated by Saulius Prūsaitis, the best Lithuanian songs will be woven into a Christmas garland by Martynas Kavaliauskas.

On Saturday night, the Christmas spirit will also be broadcast on television screens by Justė Arlauskaitė-Jazzu, “Saulės kliošas”, Justinas Jarutis, Jessica Shy, Monique, “The Roop” and Vidas Bareikis.

“I will be very happy to be able to participate again in the lighting of the Kaunas Christmas tree. For the third time I am very happy. It’s also fun to be able to present a creative novelty at the concert – the song “Savęs” – said J. Jarutis.

Girmantė Vaitkutė’s song “Let It Go” (originally – “Let it go”) from the popular animated film “Frozen Country” will be performed live on television for the first time at the Kaunas Sweet Christmas Tree Lighting Concert . In this film, Girmantė voiced the main character Elza.

“One of the most beautiful episodes is when I receive a call and an invitation to make animation famous. I really appreciate this job. I’m glad I passed the selection in both the first and the second part of “Ice Country”. The recordings were sent to the main authors, we received their approval, – said G.Vaitkutė. – It’s fun that this song wins the hearts of little listeners. My own daughters keep asking me to play “my aunt’s song.” I will be performing “Let’s Be” on television for the first time on Saturday. At the moment we cannot meet the audience live, but we will exchange the festive atmosphere on TV, directly from Kaunas. “

The impressive concert will be crowned by up to 6 fireworks that will light up the skies in the Kaunas districts. So this year, when many winter holidays will be welcomed home, the sweet and cozy Kaunas Christmas tale will reach the townspeople not only through television screens, but also through windows and balconies.

The latest Christmas streaks

Jolanta Šmidtienė, who created another impressive Christmas tree, and her team today are a real year of work. In the Town Hall Square, the decorators place the latest decorations in the fir frame, creating a composition in the Town Hall Square from the “morengine” details. The decorations are made of an environmentally friendly, degradable and environmentally friendly insulating material that has been consumed for about 1,000 meters.
