Reluctant to talk about finances

On a scale plate are the Olympic bronze won by the students, the silver from the World Championship and dozens of European championship awards.

On the other hand, athletes who have been caught and disqualified seven times by doping controllers and a criminal case.

Such is the legacy of the near end of the B. Vyšniauskas era in weightlifting in Klaipeda and across the country. It just isn’t over yet.

On Monday, weightlifting coaches suspected of violating anti-doping rules agreed to resign from the Klaipeda budget institution by agreement of the parties, Delphi Edmundas Klimas, director of the Viesulis Sports Center, confirmed.

He made such a proposal to two professionals last week due to the collapse of a group of highly skilled weightlifters. After the disqualification of the students of B. Vyšniauskas, Žygimantas Stanulis and Irmantas Kačinskas, the only Sergejus Lichovojus remained.

The coach has never given us anything, he never offers us. Unless, as I said, there is some misunderstanding or something is wrong.

According to the head of Viesulis, Thursday will be the last business day for B. and R. Vyšniauskai. However, E. Klimas declined to name whether it was agreed to pay compensation to coaches leaving the center.

“Why are you asking me if I have to give you all the details now? According to the Labor Code, by mutual agreement. And I will not comment more “, when asked about the separation conditions, the director of the municipal maintenance center was interrupted and hung up.

However, there are more questions: the financial relationship between Viesulis and B. Vyšniauskas is not limited to an employment contract.

Two years ago Delphi He has already written about a gym rented from a coach for his workplace, which spans nearly 50,000 a year. euros

“For ten years, the municipality has been renting an infinitely poor gymnasium from B. Vyšniauskas, for which it pays the space money,” then Delphi Klaipeda’s councilor Nina Puteikiene spoke.

Although the politician has repeatedly raised the issue of gym costs in the Committee on Culture, Education and Sport, the contract is still in force.

True Delphi After contacting E. Klimas again, the latter stated that he could not immediately say how much the Viesulis Sports Center currently costs to rent.

“I don’t remember, you have to look around. But yes, it costs a lot.

Starting in the fall, we will decide what will happen to this sport in general as the number of coaches decreases. We will see what the decisions of the municipal sports department will be, what strategy or weight lifting will be the priority sport. Everything will have to be seen again, “said E. Klimas.

The conversation with B. Vyšniauskas himself lasted several seconds on Tuesday. After hearing a question about working at the Viesulis Sports Center, the specialist turned off the phone.

Olympic preparation – through a private club

Until the beginning of this year, B. Vyšniauskas coordinated the coach’s work in the low-budget sports center not only with the positions of President of the Lithuanian Weightlifting Federation (LSAF) and the coach of the national team, which he had to leave when he was convicted in January of possession for distribution.

The sports veteran remains long-term president of the Klaipeda City Athletics Sports Club.

This club, together with 17 other people, was established by B. Vyšniauskas in 1997. According to data from the Records Center, last year there were three members in the club: B. Vyšniauskas, coach Vincas Šlevinskis and the Secretary General of the LSAF, Vytautas Stašinskas.

Interestingly, it is through the club managed by B. Vyšniauskas, and not the LSAF, that the preparation of weightlifters for the Olympic Games is funded by the Lithuanian National Olympic Committee (LTOK).

For example, in 2018, when B. Vyšniauskas received the title of LTOK Honorary Member, the club received 54,000. euros, and in 2015 – up to 234 thousand.

Funding is also provided by the Klaipeda municipality, as already written. Delphi2.7 thousand are planned for the club this year. euros, which should be used to organize the international tournament “Grand Prix Klaipeda 2020”.

One of the few representatives of the Lithuanian national team who has not been touched by the scourge of doping continues to play sports at the Klaipėda City Athletics Sports Club.

The scandals did not scare me

After disqualifying Aurimas Didžbalis, Ž. Stanulis and I. Kačinskas, Arnas Šidiškis takes the lead on the Lithuanian athletics podium.

Last year, the 29-year-old athlete became the country’s absolute champion and was voted the best Lithuanian athlete of the year.

At the World Championship in the weight class up to 109 kg in Thailand in September, he was ranked 22nd among 32 competitors.

Anykštėnas turned to Klaipėda only last year, when due to the age limit he could no longer train at the sports center in his hometown.

A. Šidiškis received funding in the port city. He is one of the ten athletes to whom the municipality pays scholarships. It is planned to allocate 3,744 euros this year.

The weight lifter is also on the candidate list for the Olympic team and receives an LTOK scholarship.

Admittedly, although he formally became a resident of Klaipeda, A. Šidiškis still spends a lot of time in Anykščiai. And his first coach, Algirdas Ananka, hopes that the long-term student will return to the Aukštaitija complex.

“When there are all kinds of problems with Vyšniauskas, he is now playing sports in Anykščiai. The statutes of our sports center changed in September, now it is as if everyone could train with us, including adults. I just wanted to talk to Arnu about it.

On the other hand, it is difficult to earn a living with weight lifting, and in Klaipeda, both in camps and in catering. Understandably, why he travels there, athletes need to change the environment. We also talk about the means of recovery, we understand what is prohibited and what is not, what are the principles of morality. Arn, who is already mature and smart enough, must understand that there is no joke about those things. I trust him, he would tell me if there was a problem. ” Delphi A. Ananka said.

A. Šidiškis himself Delphi He stated that he had no plans to leave the club led by B. Vyšniauskas.

“In fact, I don’t constantly live in Klaipeda, I drive from Anykščiai. I wake up on the beach just a couple of weeks or a month before the race. I don’t know if we should shoot now, I think things will continue like this in the future if nothing else the more it changes.

When it comes to doping scandals, I am calm with myself. The last two cases (disqualification of Ž. Stanulis and I. Kačinskas due to the use of a prohibited method – intravenous infusion – without coordination with the Lithuanian Anti-Doping Agency) Delphi) was a complete misunderstanding. As far as I know, there have been misunderstandings in the past.

Coach (B. Vyšniauskas – Delphi) has never given us anything, never offers us. Unless, as I said, there is some misunderstanding or something is wrong. And I’m calm anyway, “said A. Šidiškis.

Although the equipment has fallen, the weight lifter is confident that his training will not be significantly affected. Anykščiai hopes to continue the coronavirus pandemic-ridden trip to the Tokyo Olympics next year.

“This year was supposed to be the European Championship and the Olympics.” There were definitely opportunities to participate in it. But once things move on to next year, it is no longer clear what will happen. I will not give up, I will continue to work and try to show the best possible result “, – A. Šidiškis looked forward.

We remind you that in the last world championship, in addition to himself and the disqualified I. Kačinskas, two girls participated: Lijana Jakaitė from Gargždai and Gintarė Bražaitė from Anykščiai.
