According to Jurgita Šiugždinienė, there are really many problems, one of them is the lack of teachers. According to politicians, around 400 teachers are currently being sought, although four times as many are looking for work. But most of the time, those professionals who do not feel the lack of a system want to change jobs.

“This year the situation is really different, we already have a large number of people vaccinated. Of course, we should speed up vaccination, and we already have about 48%. people who already have immunity, we have a completely different situation right now in hospitals, we have low mortality.

The fact is that varieties like Delta can make some adjustments, but we still have lessons learned and we are ready to work in other conditions and, as I said, there are no major dangers ”.

According to the minister, this year, unlike last year, they have the right to plan to return to schools on September 1.

When asked what will happen to children who cannot be vaccinated and their parents may object to testing, he said health screenings should be recommended and encouraged in these conditions as they are now.

“A medical check-up is mandatory, therefore, in my opinion, although there is no government decision yet, tests should be recommended when returning to classes,” said J. Šiugždinienė.

What will the Minister do if some parents refuse to be tested? According to her, everything will depend on the situation of the pandemic.

“As happened last year, depending on the situation of the pandemic, we can make one decision or another. In those municipalities where the number of cases was significantly less than what was available at that time, the situation has now changed, but testing was also recommended later.

What do we have to do? All of our schools and municipalities must help the schools. We must also be prepared to encourage students to voluntarily take the test. We need to build a culture of trust for health exams or tests. We just have to be prepared if there was a very bad situation and then we would not be surprised. We could do something completely different. “

Speaking about distance learning loss, J. Šiugždinienė said that the most important thing now is to improve students’ emotional health and increase their motivation to learn, and learning losses can be compensated if they wish. According to her, so far it is difficult to say the exact number of teachers in short supply.

“If we look at the Employment Service, we see that there are about 400 vacancies and fifteen hundred are missing. But the situation is very different in different municipalities. In some places there is a real shortage of teachers of Lithuanian mathematics, natural sciences, language and literature, and in some places there are too many teachers in certain areas. This situation is very different and it is different in different municipalities ”.
