During the government meeting on Wednesday, Justice Minister Elvinas Jankevičius, who is replacing the Minister of Health on vacation, said the number of COVID-19 cases is growing both in Lithuania and worldwide. That is why action is needed.

“The situation in Lithuania and around the world is getting worse, the number of diseases is increasing. This is to protect our Lithuanian people from this dangerous virus, to protect our economy, clearly sending a message to companies that we will not close them or we will restrict, ask and demand that the public wear masks, “said the Minister.

E. Jankevičius stated that so far this will be the only requirement for residents.

They will have to wear face shields indoors: on public transport, in stores (including supermarkets), in places where services are provided, excluding catering and cultural and sporting events.

The government strongly recommends wearing face protection masks for Saturday.
