At the age of 76, former longtime Kaunas striker “Žalgiris” shone in the 1970s and 1980s.

With the national team of the Soviet Union, M. Paulauskas was proclaimed champion of the 1972 Munich Olympic Games, and in 1968 he won the bronze in Mexico. He has also triumphed twice in the world and four times in the European championships, and in 1965 he was recognized as the best basketball player at the Old Continental Championship.

After graduating from his career, M. Paulauskas worked as a coach, led the youth teams of the USSR and briefly led the game “Žalgiris” and Vilnius “Lietuvos rytas”.

Along with him, celebrities such as Svetislav Pešičius, Steve Nash, Alexander Volkov, Jure Zdovc are inducted into the FIBA ​​Hall of Fame. The virtual tribute will be held on June 18.

Of the Lithuanians, only Arvydas Sabonis and Šarūnas Marčiulionis are inducted into the FIBA ​​Hall of Fame.
