Delphi recalls that on Monday, the coronavirus was approved by Viktor Fyodorov, a member of the Labor Party faction in the Seimas. Due to the fact that three members of the Liberal Movement faction fell ill: the Speaker of the Seimas Viktorija Čmilytė – Nielsen, Viktoras Pranckietis and Jonas Varkalys, the entire faction was isolated. Two conservatives also reported a positive result for coronavirus last week: Vytautas Juozapaitis and Andrius Kupčinskas.

In response to the epidemiological situation in the country and the situation in the Seimas, the parliament has already taken some measures. For example, it was decided that during the quarantine period, Seimas events would not be organized indoors, except for remotely monitored press conferences.

As before, the procedure remains in force that no excursions will be organized at the Seimas, no meetings will be organized with visitors, except when necessary to guarantee the work of the Seimas. Business trips abroad are not organized for Seimas members or Seimas Chancellery staff.

One-day permits are not ordered to enter the Seimas, except to request permits for representatives of the media, nor are long-term permits issued to the Seimas, except in cases where it is necessary to guarantee the work of the Seimas.

The recommendation is maintained that Seimas members and Seimas Chancellery staff communicate with the media as much as possible in open spaces outdoors.

The Seimas Board has established that during the quarantine period the meetings of the Seimas committees and commissions, except the closed sessions, and the meetings of the Seimas Elders Conference are organized remotely. It is recommended that the Seimas factions and the Joint Group of Seimas Members organize remote meetings.

The Seimas Board decided that the self-isolation of a Seimas member due to threats of the COVID-19 disease (coronavirus infection) and / or non-participation in the Seimas session due to belonging to a risk group is considered an important good reason.

To create a safe working environment at Seimas, the Seimas Board established that Seimas sessions be organized and conducted in accordance with established health security requirements and required Seimas members and Chancery staff from the Seimas to not meet at the Seimas, to avoid actions that would make the use of a protective mask impossible. measurements.

In addition, as previously announced, members of the Seimas and employees of the Seimas Chancellery have the opportunity to perform preventive tests for COVID-19.
