The exclusive merit of the artist S. Kanaverskytė, who has organized several exhibitions, is considered the Carnival Festival of the Sea, which was created by a woman for 18 years.
The woman herself said that she had experienced a lot of emotion on such a special day and did not even think that the ceremony would be so solemn. Both creators accompanied the knights to the square.
“An unforgettable celebration, and if God gives it to me, I will work for that ring and another one that I have worked for. I am committed to all of Klaipeda, ”said the artist, who has organized several exhibitions.

Another ring went to the choreographer Agnija Šeiko. This woman is not only a choreographer, but also a dancer, a pioneer of contemporary dance in Klaipeda, who founded a dance theater in her name, glorifying the city in Lithuania and abroad. A woman attracts talents to Klaipeda. He chooses non-traditional spaces for his work, touches on social and historical issues.
A.Šeiko has already been awarded the Golden Stage Cross, and this year he was awarded the National Prize for Culture and Art.
“Of course, many thanks to the city. My relationship with the city is so dramatic that it does not disappoint me in any way … Now I feel it even more. Goda, a longtime partner 15 years ago, said: “Come back, we have to create something to put on the world map of art and dance.” That decision to return was dramatic.
It seemed – in the city, let me go, but that sand does not loosen and swell, but now I am very happy. Talent cannot be alone, I have an incredible team of comrades, my dearest dancers, who live in my heart. It makes my life happy, which makes it worth being in general. Of course my family, who always support me, ”said A. Šeiko, wanting to know himself through his work.
One of the choreographer’s last impressive works is the inaugural performance of the Capital of Culture Neringa on the water.
Invites to do good deeds
The Mayor of Klaipda, Vytautas Grubliauskas, congratulating the residents of Klaipėda with the festival of the city, urged to ask first: “What else can I do for my city?”
According to the city official, it is not usually a missed opportunity to ask what the city has done for all of us, but this time it is worth thinking backwards. Perhaps an idea, a solution, a proposal that you would like to share and would be a gift for the city.
According to V. Grubliauskas, it should not be forgotten that we live in a special period, so the responsibility lies with each of us, and a good job can be called vaccination at this time.
The mayor’s congratulatory words were also extended to the artists who received honor rings.
“These two creators, who traveled to this scene with a smile, did a great job that is unfinished, as well as a story that does not end,” said V. Grubliauskas, qualifying the Ring of the Master of Culture as an infinitely honorable valuation, but also an obligation.
So far, 38 distinguished artists have been awarded the honorable Master of Culture ring.
The Masters of Culture have been elected in Klaipeda since 2003.
The celebrations of the awarding of the title of Master of Culture of Klaipėda are associated with the actual or supposed Master Ring of the Teutonic Order found in Klaipėda Castle, and with Mėmelis Castle, the most ferocious fortress in the past in the fight of the Teutonic Order against Lithuania.
The last master of the order, Albrecht Brandenburg, forced all the disobedient elders of Lithuania Minor to flee.
It is believed that this master may have lost his precious ring in Klaipėda Castle when he was wrapped in it to punish the disobedient prince of the castle. It can be assumed that the owner of the ring searched for it for a long time, but archaeologists only found it after almost 500 years.
