After playing away, the Hawks entered the field in red clothing, while the Thunder, who you will often see wearing white or blue sports uniforms, chose a color very similar to their opponents, orange.
While the similar color scheme didn’t disturb the pitch, it was a real nightmare for fans watching the game on television.
As the guests had not brought any other clothing from Atlanta, the league required the Thunder team to change into sportswear, and after a hiatus between the second and third quarters, the hosts walked the floor already wearing white clothing.
This curiosity was met with much mockery on social media and was even compared to a misunderstanding in Turkey, when teams dressed in white during the snowstorm were simply not seen.
“It seemed strange at first, but it didn’t have much of an impact in the first half of the game,” said Thunder leader Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who was attached to the hometown strategist.
“Frankly, I didn’t even realize it and didn’t pay attention. But then the league ordered a change of clothes and we reacted,” said Mark Daigneault.
Today, NBA club apparel no longer consists of home and outing colors, but even a few different color combinations. The league, using the LockerVision system, confirms the match teams’ clothing for each match prior to the start of the season. First it is given to choose the home, and then, for the invited team, in what uniform it is desirable to compete.
Team Thunder won the match 118: 109.
