ŠMSM: there will be no extension of the license for students, a decision has also been made regarding distance education

Students will be going on Christmas break on December 23rd and vacation will end on January 5th. Nor is it proposed to introduce universal distance education, reports the Ministry of Education and Science.

“We also consulted with the directors of schools, as well as with the directors of the associations that connect the institutions of preschool, primary and basic education and the gymnasiums, the board of the Association of directors of municipal education units and representatives of parents. Most argue that universal distance education is not necessary. Distance education in a separate municipality can still be introduced now by decision of the director of the municipal administration and with the approval of the National Center for Public Health. The school also has the right to make its own decision to organize teaching only remotely, ”says Algirdas Monkevičius, Acting Minister of Education, Science and Sports.

Data on the schools in each municipality are provided to the Ministry on a daily basis. As a result, the situation in educational institutions is constantly monitored and analyzed. No matter how the school works, it can be seen that the number of diseases or isolations does not depend on it, schools are not the main sources of infection. According to data provided by educational institutions, during the entire quarantine period the average number of illnesses per day in educational institutions was around 36, including non-pedagogical personnel, which was around 2.4 percent. cases out of the total number of cases in Lithuania.

According to data from schools, about 75 percent. schools advocate a contact or mixed approach.
