“Yes, there were a lot of those shortcomings, and in the spring we wanted a completely different level of performance. And the additional funding was provided when someone finally started asking questions and showing that the information systems measures are serious, ”S. Skvernelis told News Radio on Friday.

“Let’s separate the institution and the manager, the manager will be evaluated and evaluated by the direct manager, that is, the Minister of Health,” he added.

The former prime minister stressed that the ordinary staff of this institution are doing hard and important work and are worthy of respect.

“I would not like to speak of this institution in negative terms, because the institution is not just a manager, there are many employees who work in real and difficult conditions,” he said.

On Friday, Health Minister Arūnas Dulkys will meet with the head of the National Center for Public Health, Robertas Petraitis, to discuss his explanations about the institution’s activities.

As Aistė Šuksta, representative of A. Dulkis, told BNS, the meeting is organized after receiving evaluations from the minister’s team on R. Petraitis’ explanations about the situation when more than a thousand deaths related to COVID-19 were not reflected. in official statistics.

Last Tuesday, A. Dulkys discussed the situation with R. Petraitis, but stated that he was not convinced by the answers from the head of the NVSC, so he asked to present them in writing.

He entrusted the evaluation of these responses to his team, but said he would like to speak again with the director of the institution and hear his position on the way forward.

After listening to the manager’s explanations, the Minister must make a decision about the future job prospects of the director of the institution.

A. Dulkys has repeatedly criticized the NVSC management for ineffective management of the institution.

R. Petraitis states that criticism from politicians complicates the work of NVSC specialists, because they face the hostility of the people towards them. He also stated that a decision on whether or not to resign would be made if specific irregularities committed by him were identified. According to the head of the NVSC, the institution and it operated in accordance with established procedures.
